SEASON 2
Following the excitement of the first ever grand final, BnF's largely ignored and victory speeches given, the League was buzzing with activity. Prospective players started new threads left right and centre to join one of the more succesful clubs last season. (I think people thought the sim had precedence).
Season 2 also saw teams try and extensively redevelop their lists, often at the expense of their own players going the other way, and usually without them knowing they had been traded at all! This sparked the first introduction of a new rule, Mobbs letting the League know that a player has to agree to being put up for trade before a club can accept any offers. A player draft was also touted as a possible solution, but never materialised. Following the first season's trend, a thread continued to be made for anything and everything under the sun. Mobbs eventually stated 'let me know when you lot have sorted it out, i'm having a nap' or words to that affect.
Meanwhile, some people were already anxious to kick off the next season of Qooty, with one season being played over a year during these times, however, Mobbs was adamant (for the time being)...
I feel that it cheapens the league to run two seasons or more a year ... this should be time to do all the off-season things!
If we get more clubs, next season will be a longer one.
A small but noticeable change was that 'new signing threads' were now starting to appear in the League, with a bit more information than just the team name and player recruited. Take this one from Macca19 in which a solitary beer was enough to seal the deal for a new Team Pump player.
There also started to appear messages from shameless glory hunters simply seeking the most concessions from whichever club was that desperate. True trailblazers.
This was the year Media emerged, as far as it could possibly be from the vital part of the League it is now, but nevertheless it arrived. Sweet F.A posters realised the League was ready to be anything and started to imitate the news cycle of that other lame type of footy. There was corporate sponsorship announcements, fears or unfounded rumours of liquidation, shock betrayals, from key players and of key players, as well as messages from self elected Vice Presidents and the like bad-mouthing their teams performances. Even more shockingly still, a Coach having an affair with a player's wife, a Mobbs Medal Odds thread, Oh, and a singular season Hall of Fame thread
It truly was the start of something different, a new direction, where the off field antics started to matter, although still not as much as the random sim.
An interesting idea was thrown around during the season by Abel Xavier, however imagine the organisation this would have needed to be done right, especially in 2002.

For next season
We could make this very real.
Each team has say a salary cap of 5 million dollars(example)....and players get paid judged on their number of posts....ala Jod with 6800 posts would be on 400k a yr etc.
Ive thought about this...and it could make for very intriguing trade periods...delisting and clubs being fined for salary cap breaching
What do ya's think?
The moment of the off-season however, was incoming Admin EKA's bold decision to sell his majority stake in and revoke captaincy of the premiership winning Seventh Wonders and form a new club, The Hurricanes, much to the outrage of his previous teammates at the Wonders. This set of threads is one of the first true Sweet F.A moments.
In a very, very long pre-season, Mobbs organised the first Sweet F.A vs AFL representative match, the Sweet F.A All Stars comfortably beating the Australian Footy Team. Months later, the Pre season fixture was finally announced with the Dragons beating the Razors.
Mobbs also implemented a long term fail safe to stop over the top poaching, meaning no one club could poach another TEN players a season or too many from the other one club. Another new rule introduced allowed for a player cap of 24 players.
Season 2 did in fact start with Mobbs still in the Administrator's position, however, the waiting times in the pre-season and then between the fixture being announced and played were signs of the tulmutuous time to come. After squad deadline was announced in February, the first rounds began in April. New teams joined the League in Darkness Eternal, Titans, Razors and the Hurricanes, to join the Seventh Wonders, Team PUMP, Dragons and Pagan Ducks. Kournikova, Team Timmy and Dingoes did not return for the second season.
CRISIS TIME
Round 2 saw the closest ever finish in 'one and a bit seasons of Qooty' with the Hurricanes narrowly winning against the Pagan Ducks by a solitary point. Round 3 in a game between Team PUMP and Titans saw the first instance of a player having a shot on the siren, but failing to register a score.
Not soon after, disaster struck the League. Before Round 5 began, competition reached a surprise halt. Mobbs had disappeared. Then re-appeared, with awful news. The program would not run on his new PC. Confusion ensued. More time passed. Eventually a cunning plan was arranged.
Wonders Premiership winning Captain EKA assumed the role of admin of the League, and after talk of starting over, Round 5 eventually got underway again in December.
In a surprise turn of events, Season 2 saw a nervous, tentative old roy on the other side of the fence.
*pathetic pout*
(I know, "next year Son")
We'll take you on our rookie list, if it's allowed.
This league is much more accommodating than it used to be.
Could never hack the old administration.
In round 11, The Razors kicked to this day the Sweet F.A all time highest score of 32.19.211. After a few more minor delays, new rules and Round 14 completely replayed due to the INSANE amount of goals (Offical League statement is the grounds were under renovation and the teams played half field length games), the final ladder was finally cemented with a furious battle for fourth, and the finals series took shape.

In an emotion fuelled Grand Final, EKA said it better than I ever could;
10 Minutes until bouncedown
Welcome to todays big match, the finale of the year, between the Hurricanes and the Wonders. Throughout the year these teams have battled hard, both winning one home and away match between each other, round 7 to the Hurricanes, round 14 to the Wonders. They also met earlier on in this finals series, which the Hurricanes won in a tight fought match, giving them a head to head lead this season of 2-1. But all this being said the Wonders must surely go in as favourites. The TAB is paying $1.20 for a Wonders win and $1.50 for a hurricanes win. The Wonders have been here on this day before, being last years premiers, and so have the experience. However, the hurricanes also have an experienced Captain who led the Wonders to that memorable victory last season.
Whatever, this game should be a cracker and may the best team win.
The Hurricanes beat the Seventh Wonders to retain EKA's undefeated Grand Finals record, 8.17.65 to 8.7.55. On the first Mobbs night to be called the Mobbs Medal, Hurricanes midfielder Blues^Rock took home the award and I'm not sure he even knows he won.
A historic season, sometimes for all the wrong reasons. We might not have made it past Season 2 without EKA stepping up to the Admin position.
