Artistic Gymnastics New

Fun Fact: Pfft, like I know anything about Artistic Swimming apart from that it used to be Sychronised Swimming.

Artistic Swimming: A gymnastic event disguised as an aquatic event. That's basically it, it's like the Team Rhythmic Gymnastics event but there's no apparatuses and they're all swimming. Oh, and now men can now join in this year.

Our artistic swimmers are:

Mount Buller are up first and... they have a terrible time of it. Competitor can only score a 1, a 1/3 or a -0.5 from the 10 parts of the routine, depending on how well the routine is being executed, and the Demons team register a -0.5 on half their scores. Mount Buller sets the bar on a low 0.5 overall score and they won't be on the podium long.

Las Vegas have the same similar start as the Demons, but they go relatively safe for the rest of the routine. The Bears end up with a score of 2 1/3 which is better than Mount Buller, but there will be better scores later on.

Sin City shows that you don't need a string of 1s to win this event, just stay away from the -0.5 scores. The Swamprats do what they know they can do and they go to the top with a score of 4 2/3 which is definitely a bar being set there.

Ophidian is another team that has a slow start to their routine but bring their score back up a bit towards the end, finishing with 3 points easily enough to eliminate the Demons from the Top 3.

East Side hasn't had too many good results these Games so far, another team that goes with a safe routine. Well, maybe too safe, you still need to impress the judges with your routine. The Hawks score a 3 1/6, puts them just inside the Top 3 and eliminate the Bears.

The Warriors have the worst possible start, what is with these bad starts? Plus, they also go conservative right after. A score of 1 2/3 is given to Coney Island at the end there, nowhere near enough if they wanted another medal from this event.

West Coast almost goes through the entire routine getting 1/3 scores. It wouldn't have been good enough for a medal if they had managed to go through the whole routine by being middle-of-the road but a -0.5 score at the end certainly kills their medal chances here.

Gumbies have their own bad start to their routine but then get a string of 1s immediately after. This is the sort of scoring I was expecting, hardly any perfects were being given out and the Gumbies are now hoarding them. A -0.5 will undermine that achievement and they sit in 2nd place with a score of 4 1/3. That sees the Old Boys fall out of the Top 3.

The Dragons and the Vampires also try for the attempt of getting a 1/3 for every part of the routine. Pennsylvania fail at the 4th part to tie with the Wonders at 2.5 while the Dragons fail at both the 1st and 8th part which sees them tie with the Warriors at 1 2/3.

The last 2 routines aren't much to write home about either. Neither the Bombers, nor the Roys score much of the way of perfect 1s and definitely don't go anywhere near the Top 3 meaning that our Gold medalists are the Artistic Swimming trio of ant555 BloodSwan and sataris . beez, Chat Pile and Brick Loosener win the Silver and Shermy, jackenny and Tadpole round out the podium for Bronze.

Breaking New
498px-Breakdancing_pictogram.svg.png
Fun Fact: This is not the weirdest event at an Olympics ever. Painting was once an Olympic sport.

If you are like the many people who saw this announced and went "What on earth is 'Breaking'?" then let me tell you; it's Breakdancing. You could say that Breakdancing could just be the Floor routine of Artistic Gymnastics but on a smaller scale but I don't think you realise that Dancesport is a thing.

Well, okay, it's not. When people mention Dancesport they usually mean Strictly Ballroom. In fact, the term "dancesport" was created to get Ballroom Dancing into the Olympics back in 1997, but instead breakdancing got here first 25 years later.

Also, Breaking doesn't use competitors names. They all are referred to by their nickname, such as Raygun or 671 or Phil Wizard. Plus, they don't get to choose what music they break to, the DJ does. The competitors have to do a "The Castle" and go off the vibe. What is this sport? Why is it only being at the 2024 Games, we legit have to wait until 2036 to see if it gets another go.

Anyways, here's our competitors and the nicknames I gave them since I was given none. I didn't ask, but I also didn't ask for Flag Bearers for the Opening Ceremony.

Surely the weirdest Olympic sport was 'solo synchronised swimming'...

Surely the weirdest Olympic sport was 'solo synchronised swimming'...
All those factoids always go "Did you know Tug-of-War was once an Olympic Sport" and I'm like "THAT ONE MAKES SENSE". Painting, Sculpturing, Architecture, Literature, Music-Writing, along with Solo Synchronised Swimming, Motorboat Racing, Taxi Racing, Electric Taxi Racing, Electric Delivery Van Racing, Truck Racing, Firetruck Racing have all been, at some point, been contested at an Olympic Games and all of a sudden, Tug-of-War, Breakdancing and Australian Rules Football don't seem that weird.

The French are, and have always been, a weird bunch.

Here are the Quarter-Final results: N-Thing makes like work of The O-Show7, D77 proves the better of ShueShine13 while both Whiskers2Whiz and Vanny_Boy both need a 3rd set to get past JackAttack_8 and Ochzilla905.

While the Group stage only has 2 sets per match, and the Quarter-Finals are Best of 3, the Semi-Final and Medal Matches are all 3-set matches.

This leads Whiskers2Whiz to sweep N-Thing 3 sets to 0 while Vanny_Boy was able to comeback from a set down against D77.
