So on February 17th, there will be 2 T20 Internationals at the MCG. First, a womens T20 against New Zealand.

The womens' T20 Starts at 2:05 pm. The car park at the MCG isnt even being opened until 3 pm. The match finishes at 5:05 pm.

The men's T20 starts at 7:35 pm.

Maybe I'm unusual, odd or unique, but I wouldnt mind heading down and at least catching some of the women's match, and after all the day is billed as a double header. And after all, I'm being charged as much as a full ODI for entry, so **** it I wouldnt mind a bit more cricket.

And in this day and age, we should be getting behind our female teams more and this is a perfect opportunity.

But seriously....2 and a half hours between the games? In what universe is that a double header? The car park not even being opened until an hour after the women's game starts?

Cricket Australia, you are a bunch of dickwads.

If you are serious about promoting our premier female cricket team and attracting new fans and spectators do it properly. Not this tokenist half ass bullshit which makes it less likely if anything that people will attend. You are still a poorly run bullshit organisation full of morons.

If it's like football, it's because they don't want the main game delayed under any circumstances.

'I wouldn't mind heading down and catching the women's match.'

- original post.

So I gave my opinion on whether I'd like to watch it.

So get f***ed.

You can be such a campaigner at times

I like it :D

Agree with the OP.

They give themselves a massive gap so that the groundstaff can get the zing bails, microphones, cameras sorted plus roll and re-mark the pitch. The fielding circle and boundaries are different sizes for the women's game so need to be re-done. So that the tv crews can do all their pre-match blather and interviews on the field. So that the teams can do a 60+ minute warm up on the field. Plus leave a gap in case the women's game goes overtime or to a super over.

Ridiculous.

Completely defeats the purpose of having a double header.

Still far too long.

The boundary doesn't need redoing. The men's one is already in place, so the women's rope just needs removing

Opening car parks is an easy one, but I have two questions:

1. How much of a gap should there be (and be realistic)?
2. How do you address things like warm-ups?

Is there a reason why warmups cant happen while the pitch square is being prepared? I dont think so, so that can happen in parallel. I would allow max 40 mins.

If you add 30 mins to allow for overrun in the previous match, so max total 1:15 should be plenty. That is at least feasible to make it a double header. This is currently twice that.

Also note that overruns in the previous match would only be super over or slow over rate which cant be that much.

Current practice with these is that if there is a rain delay, the over start coming out immediately. They dont allow for going over the scheduled end. This happened on the day of the BBL Melbourne derby double header where the WBBL match was interrupted by light drizzle. Even though there was over an hour and a half between the matches, they still took the full interruption time out of the second innings meaning the chasing side required only another 7 runs to win on resumption with the D/L which made it a farce.

The Stars players were arguing violently with the umpire about it but no dice.

Womens match streaming on Fox (or Netflix, or Cricket Australia or whatever). Finishes at 5.00. The BIGGEST money spinners for the TV networks (ie cheapest to make, highest ratings and advertising dollars) are put on between 5-7.30.

Millionaire, News, Family Feud, Current Affair, Home and Away, etc. Nobody's going to be watching any cricket. Even the Men's cricket gets shunted to Channel 92 for the news when it runs past 6.00.

No one is going to watch the women's cricket match an ANY platform if it runs past 5.00.

When you are not sure about why something is done - follow the money - $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

The 25 yard circle has to get changed to a 30 yard circle
