I don’t think they understand the rule. I swear based on some of what they were saying and possibly even the reaction of the Aussies, they are under the misapprehension that the ‘if it hits on the full it is assumed that it’s going straight on’ rule, means ‘it is going to STRAIGHTEN.’
That’s not what it means. It just means that it is assumed that the ball will continue to go straight on the direction it was going which to me was what the projection seemed to show.

Isn't the rule that if the ball hits the pad on the full, umpires have to assume the ball does not deviate from its line? So whether it was going to spin is irrelevant?

They did get the easiest batting conditions to be fair. Johnson probably MOTM if he picks up a 4th, likewise Bartlett if he gets another 1 or 2.

It’s called context of the match situation. No batsmen has looked close to clearing the boundary outside of Short and JFM. It will probably go to Bartlett or Johnson, but that 50 off 3.1 overs will prove to the the difference in this match.
Probably would have hit middle stump, but the ball tracking simulation doesn’t seem to be able to recognise a deflection off the pads…or leg spin.
