Our economy (especially victoria but also Australia in general) heavily relies on consumer growth and housing growth Both need population growth as natural birth rates are down and 50% of the boomers are already retired, with the rest going within the next 5 years.

At the same time we haven't had a big correction in the housing market and are overleveraged 7 times that of the US sub prime market.

At the same time there is government mismanagement (watch the Vic State gobt over the next 2-3 months in the lead up to the may budget - economically in big trouble) and corporate greed on a scale seldom seen.

At the same time China is about to bust and our iron ore industry is gunna put a massive hole in our economy (I give it 1 to 2 years).

At the same time the US is winding back patrolling maritime trade routes. Globalisation is going away, from an economic and consumer perspective.

We are going to have to make new regional trade deals and patrol our own region. Moree importantly, we will need to start manufacturing more goods here. We need to move up the value add chain with raw materials.

It's an economically extremely uncertain world and the next 5 years will be quite volatile.

Lucky for us we are self suficient in food and can be sustainable in energy.
