Any one been to Mt Gambier and surrounds? Is it worth a short trip?

Slow trip via coast. Zig zag inland to some old town pubs on the way is a good Road trip.
Stayed in The Gambier a fair bit for work before Covid. Food n drink pretty good. Got the Lake, but lots of average weather.
