Morris isn't a fullback so why would he be battling Rutten, Michael, Lake, Glass, Scarlett or Fletcher?

Whether you like it or not he will be classified with these defenders. He isn't a small defender, he isn't a rebounding half back flank, you cannot invent a category just to shoehorn your team's player in.

Well he certainly beats 0 time AA Michael, averages more disposals, more marks, and more tackles.

Also beats Darren Glass in the same categories to get in as a third tall defender given you would likely have Lake and Scarlett as your FB and CHB.

Great. So he's better than Mal Michael.

But thinking he's superior to Darren Glass is lulzworthy. He won his last AA playing as the third tall, if you like harping on about AA so much. And if you're measuring defenders by disposals and marks then Joel Bowden would be GOAT.

Harping? I've mentioned it once!

Surely Pav gets a run... carried his team for 10 years! Criminally underrated outside WA.
First half of career..magnificent. Champion stuff.
Second half of career was an almost identical return as Drew Petrie as a comparison. From about 2008/09ish onwards he wasnt the same force. Had about one and a half seasons out of 7-8 that might be considered back to his best and AA quality.

Nothing against Petrie, but the second half of Pav''s career was a tad underwhelming considering his talent, and how he played in his early-mid 20's.

In Your 2nd Team was Lade a better ruckman than Ottens?

This has been done a few times already but I like your team. One thing I will say is I think Sam Mitchell HAS to be in. My reasoning:
  • Been the best player (5 B&F's, 8 times top 3) in the side that won the most premierships.
  • Most Brownlow votes of any player (tied with GAJ)
  • Most disposals of any player
  • Most clearances of any player
  • Only player top 4 for contested AND uncontested ball
  • Top 5 for Coaches votes
  • One of the best finals players
  • Most 30+ disposal games of any player (both in finals and not)
  • One of the best ball users despite getting it more than anyone
  • etc, etc.
Can also play at half back every now and then. Biggest issue with Sammy is that he didn't kick goals

Without ever being considered critical enough to win an individual award or medal.
If you're looking at a hard fought finals game where you need something special it is very hard going past him. He saves his best for the big moments and time and time again he lifts and plays anywhere you need him to.

Over a whole season you might have a point though

8 years a champion not enough? Fyfe has had 2 years so clearly he doesnt get a look in even as an emergency...

Pav Roo and Buddy are 3 who deserve to be there.

Can any of you remember a time your best forward had a day out against Macpharlin? I cant remember a time when an opposition forward got the better of him. There might be times, but honestly he was so reliable to the point of being a given.

Some stats guru might prove me wrong but Macpharlin is so underrated in my opinion.

no doubt Macpharlin was quality but does he get in these teams ahead of Scarlett or Glass

You reckon Ottens has been the second best ruckman in this period? :drunk:
