You all knew what you were signing up to ,the VFL rebranded as the AFL and you're still complaining about it 20 years later.
Forget it time to move on.

For myself I didn't follow the VFL so I naturally don't follow the AFL

Will watch a good game from time to time on the TV.

Why don't you go become a member of your state league and then you can forget your frustrations with the VFL/AFL

If the financial and sponsorship contributions that Adelaide and Perth give the AFL were taken away and moved into an alternative competition, the Kangaroos and Western Bulldogs would be in serious, serious financial trouble.

Yeah fair point, but if Adelaide and Perth alone were forced to carry development of football in NSW and QLD, they would struggle.

Yeah but they probably also contribute more to the value of the massive tv rights deal than any Vic club (with maybe 1 or 2 exceptions).

Given the complete contempt all 3 commercial networks have shown football fans in QLD and NSW, can you really say that they are paying substantial sums for the rights to broadcast in those markets? Or are Melbourne followed by Perth and Adelaide the real jewels in the crown for football rights.

Serious? You are complaining about a lousy $4m discounted, vendor financed franchise fee? You should make that per annum and you got a chunk back already when Waverley sold. Try auctioning it off and see what you get. Add a zero or two.

Bingo.

I'm sick of all and sundry bitching $4 Mill this and $4 Mill that, supporting Victorian clubs, If it wasn't for the WAFL/SANFL, a handful of Victorian clubs would be dead etc. etc.

Truth be known, if the Waverley money was pored back into Victoria, rather than distributed nationally, then Victorian football would be in much better shape.

Next, the "Franchise clubs" expected to make a profit by joining the AFL (to pour back into the SANFL/WAFL), so a Franchise fee was more than fair. A fee which was more than paid back through revenue gained.

Let's take everything into account before non-Victorians/Interstaters (Call them what you will) bitch and moan about supporting Victorian clubs, because it's simply not true.

Damn here I was thinking you were from another state...hence the term interstate. Whats your problem its not like the Vic rags call you the "chip on shoulder" teams even though from some of the insecure posts maybe they should.

We dont care what you call us in whichever state you are from why get precious over the fact that to us you are (mostly) Johnny come lately's, we know its a national comp....the nations made up of states, you come from a non Vic one, hence you are an "interstate" team.

WTF is your problem?

So how does it feel for a little club like Freo to have more members than any of your "powerhouse" Vic clubs? ;)

I'll tell you why WC and Freo have more members ... it's because there are only two WA-based teams. If there were 10 WA teams, their member numbers would probably be spread more evenly between the clubs as each local suburb would be barracking for their own team.

The term Interstate used used to describe a situation. It can only be used by the Victorian teams.

Its a TERM nothing more.

If you dont like the term interstate.

here are some other terms you can pick from:

the unfriendlies
the faultfinders
the moaners
the nit-pickers
or more simply my favourite the whiners

Nah I'd rather use Adelaide, Brisbane, Carlton, Collingwood etc etc.
You know, the clubs name.

I'll give you that one, that's cool.:thumbsu:

It was all the Interstate teams (non-vic) that made a bid to play in the best comp on the land. Stop your whinging, Adelaide started off as a State team trying to match it in OUR comp. have always thought it should be called the VDFL (Victorian & Districts Football Leauge)

cool- we'll create a new proper de-centralised national league and leave you to play in the VFL. See how you go without all the non victorian teams under writing some of Vic's poorer performing clubs financially.

That was the underlying point of my 2-conference league idea.

To highlight who needs who more.
