Quick look (correct me if I am wrong) but those who missed and were considered good chances:

Luke McEntee
Alan Toovey
Tim Looby
Tom Rischbeith
Daniel Dzufer
Matt Thomas
Jace Bode

Others like Shaun Grigg, Matt White, Ryan Jackson, James Wall, Angus Graham also miss out.

Who was most unlucky?

Poor Toovey, definetly the unlucky one there, will be rookie listed , but that is only if he enters the rookie draft.

All unlucky but will give the clubs some very good talent to pick from for the rookie draft. From a Carlton supporters point of view I hope we take two midfielders with skill. Jackson, Bode, Dzufer and Rischbieth would be handy. I kile the 2 back-flankers in Toovey and Looby. Wall could be anything in the future, very mobile for 198cm and play as a key forward, key defender or in the ruck. He will be a very good player and if a club is willing to give him some time to develop then they will reap the rewards. Essendon most likely at this stage, maybe with Hawthorn also keen.

I would not be thinking positions with rookies, it's not like as if they are even going to be able to make it onto a senior list but even so - I say go for broke!

If you are in the national draft then you are automatically in the rookie draft if you are old enough.

The number of big kids from Qld this year makes me suspect the water supply up there.

Here is as good a place to ask as anywhere-- I know you have to be 18 to be rookie drafted. The question, though, is: 18 as of when? If the answer is 'at the date of the rookie draft' then Julian Kannis misses out by a whole 2 days. Geez, you'd be feeling stiff. I would love Sydney to rookie a guy of his description as well.

In terms of overall talent and ready to play- Jackson and White
In terms of long term potential James wall and McEntee.
how stiff were the calder Cannons? Wall, White, Graham, Neaves, Bowes and Sam Robertson all had legitimate draft chances. This was the year to play division 2 and come from Queensland!

Brisbane and Sydney get preferential rookie picks on locals, correct?

If so, who would qualify under this, how many picks do they get, and does this apply to any other interstate club?

toovey couldnt of done anymore to be drafted bad luck.
Also i think that someone has ********ed up not drafting Brennan Mills have to be considered next year.
