When the NY judge drops the criminal sentencing against Trump even though he's already been convicted, Sheezus, have mercy on America.

Nah he's President-elect, that ship has sailed.

Nothing I've ever read, seen or done has helped me understand politics better - and I was on really good terms with some of the most successful political strategists of their generation in the SNP.

Still find it amazing that Dobbs didn't give Harris enough of a boost to get over the line though. I can't speak on behalf of women, but I'd vote for my reproductive rights over owning the libs every day of the week.
Because she didn't ****ing campaign on it even though it was an obvious winner. Instead she paraded the Cheneys around and pledged to put a Republican in her cabinet

Welfare check for Chad.

Don't be mean to him today, he will be hurting and will know people over there who will feel themselves to be in significant danger.

I'll order it tomorrow.

The central issues are that the vibes on the economy were bad, Trump's nativist rhetoric appeals to voters, and they waited too long to pivot from Biden. Americans weren't feeling the Biden presidency, so rolling out a key part of that admin as the candidate was always going to pose issues. It's very similar to 2016: anti-establishment sentiments were high, but the Democrats rolled out a candidate who represented that establishment. Pivoting from Biden early and running a proper primary process was probably their best chance but they missed that boat.

And have been since 2009 apart from a brief burst in the mid to late '10s which was built on zero interest rates.

Ah well. The croocked businessmen, far right christian fanatics, self important tech bros and low brow comedians are now in charge of the most powerful nation in history. What could possibly go wrong?

My partner, who is very politically astute and quite left, just said exactly the same
Reckon a fair few would've cast their minds back to 16, and wondered about the logic of it during the campaign. And the standing of Hollywood and the mainstream music industry has crashed in the last 5 years.

It was hard to see what the benefit of rolling out all of these celebrities was.
People in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Milwaukee and the rural areas of the swing states, couldn't give a stuff what Beyonce or J-Lo think.
If it appealed to anyone, it was voters she already had.

you're delusional if you think the tech bros were for trump. Maybe the crypto folk.

There is a pretty scary possible timeline on the horizon, where Trump actually does all the stuff he’s promised to do plus who knows what else.

My fear is that the biggest losers will be America’s closest allies ie. Australia, UK, Western Europe and Japan and the biggest winners will be Russia, China and the gulf states. Ideologies and shared values have never counted for so little.

He had 3 assassination attempts during the election cycle? I doubt he is going to see it past the first year.
