Would look good modernised.

Personally, I've never liked that guernsey much. I reckon that the 'wings' design should only come in royal and yellow. I also however think that what the eagles have now (except clash) is great. Always been envious of the fact that you guys have been able to produce 2 excellent and clean main guernseys. If I was an eagles fan I'd have em both :thumbsu:

Yellow shorts looks terrible.

Blue, and maybe white, but please not yellow

In that case, yes, the yellow shorts look AWFUL!!! However, with the current 'baggier' polyester shorts I reckon they could possibly work on a modernised version. Would be difficult to tell without actually seeing a prototype :(

In ALL cases they look horrible. Look at Newcastles banana kit. Doesn't matter how baggy the shorts are, it looks terrible.

And please don't tell me the Lakers look good, they don't. The only reason it is slightly manageable is due to the darkness of the players - lets face it, darker skin - whether tan or black, can pull off brighter colours. Look at the white guys in a Lakers uniform, it looks crap.

Surely we would be able to wear blue shorts with the yellow peril, the jumper doesn't clash with any dark jumpers in the AFL, does it? So it shouldn't matter what colour the shorts are.

The AFL allows Essendon to wear red shorts with their clash.

Essendon wouldn't wear red shorts against the swans, or Gold Coast.

We would be wearing this against the Bulldogs, the shorts would cause a clash. They need to be white.

Ignoring the fact it was Carlton, this kit as a whole didn't look too bad.

With white shorts, the peril would just look awkward.

If I had it my way, we'd wear the peril at home with royal shorts and socks (the original); royal blue away with white shorts and blue socks (the premiership); and a "clash" uniform consisting of the peril with gold shorts and socks, in some form, on the odd occasion when we play NM or WB away.
Home kit v Brisbane away is fine.

I loved that Carlton jumper, looked classy. :thumbsu:

I'd like to see a modern version of the yellow peril with yellow shorts, maybe have bigger blue lines down the sides of the shorts to break up the yellow a bit?

Personally I don't think looking like bananas is classy but that's just me and I do think that white shorts look fine with yellow. When Hawthorn wear white shorts I think it looks much better than when they wear brown shorts.

Yep, always liked this kit, it's a guilty pleasure of mine. I remember sitting at the game and realising all the Carlton players had white and yellow Nike boots. It sounds like overkill in theory, but looked quite cool in practice. I remember it being pretty sunny that day, so maybe that's why.

I love when Arsenal wear yellow away from home. Not many clubs have a definitive away colour in England. I originally hated the 10/11 kit when teamed with yellow shorts, but I really grew to it. I think the darkness of the redcurrant trim makes it bearable. Royal blue makes the yellow look powdery, so it wouldn't work for WCE.

They look good when they're winning! :p

I'm pretty sure that the yellow on the 25th year jumper is a different shade of gold/yellow to other yellow perils, so it may look a bit different with yellow shorts now.
Agree with this. The yellow doesn't look anywhere near as bright, possibly due to the polyester material (which I mentioned before). Definitely think the yellow shorts could work or otherwise white would look alright. The AFL wouldn't allow blue shorts to be worn on this clash and as many of you are arguing, a light kit should also have light shorts ;)

And in response to saying that yellow shorts always look terrible, these looked awesome:

I really liked those gold Richmond shorts as well. The reason it works with yellow shorts (as opposed to the peril not working) is because it contrasts with the rest of the strip. An all yellow kit is quite sickly looking, unless teamed with a really dark colour (see Carlton's Livestrong strip).

And why can't the Eagles wear the yellow peril with blue shorts? The above Richmond strip was a clash solution. It teamed yellow with black, a much more obvious light/dark contrast than yellow/royal.

Yeah, I do understand that yellow shorts work better with a contrast but I still reckon that yellow shorts could work. Would have to see a prototype to be able to make my decision but otherwise I could see white working (as they do with Hawthorn home).

The Richmond shorts had nothing to do with avoiding a clash, these were worn in the 2007 Heritage round, against North Melbourne. If anything they probably would have created more of a clash.

As someone here mentioned, the proposed yellow clash would have to be worn against the doggies, who obviously wear royal blue shorts at home. This creates an obvious problem. As well as this, the AFL would require West Coast's clash guernsey to be light, with light shorts. In some cases it could work with the royal but people are trying to get NM and Geelong to wear white shorts at home so why should West Coast be an exception by wearing contrasting shorts with their CLASH?!?!?!?

Not having a go at you personally cos I don't know your opinion on the dark/light shorts issue but this board is very hypocritical. Another example is how people scream TRADITION, TRADITION, TRADITION, yet 75% of the clash guernseys designed here as modern as anything the AFL currently has  But thats another issue, forget I posted this...

The reason there's hypocrisy on "this board" is because we are all subjective people. It's inevitable that, despite our fairly consistent taste, we will have different opinions on some subjects.

Yeah very true :thumbsu: Just got a bit caught up in the moment I think  Just to make sure, wasn't gettin stuck into you either :thumbsu:

What about having the original peril jumper with blue shorts as the home strip, royal jumper with yellow shorts as the away strip and the navy jumper (with wings) and yellow shorts as the clash? I think yellow always looks good as a secondary uniform colour with a darker main colour.

Both navy and royal would be 'dark' strips so you couldnt have one as the away and one as the clash
