Actually that's the perfect one. Why didn't the dogs throw the kitchen sink at Alir, they needed him so much more than Treloar and Sydney would have taken Dunkley
Didn't Port get Aliir for a 2nd? They'd have change if they sent Dunkley to the Swans for him.

Yeah their backline could be their Achilles. Defensively Weitering is a gun, Docherty solid, but the rest are meh imo. With the right setup and their midfield fit and firing they should do pretty well, but will be interesting how they go against forward lines with several marking threats.
Plonky Jones retirement hurts a lot and Oscar MacDonald getting games hurts them even more. Zac Williams and Adam Saad are pretty nice running through there tho, the backline isn't far off.

With Cripps coming good I think they've got most of the pieces now sadly.

There was definitely bad blood between Sydney and the Dunkley family due to how Andrew Dunkley’s career ended, not sure if that’s still the case.

But yes, Aliir is the sort of player the Bulldogs should’ve been into.

I said last week this club is scarred. Their fans have barely turned up first two rounds, playing their best clearance player away from stoppages, their backline looks a shambles, besides Naughton they've got nothing up forward, Smith needed a leave of absence, Dunkley has tried to get out, their midfield gets spooked when under top line pressure, their coach has lost the plot. Not many good things coming out of the club since getting belted in the GF.

They lose to Sydney next week(real possibility) their season is in freefall..

This thread is weirdly obsessive with a team we beat in the GF, but it's also mad trolling and I'm here for it.
It was mainly just started to laugh at Beveridge.

I’m giving Demon Spirit very low marks on the basis of being generally embarrassing but hats off to the guy that came up with the “through and through” campaign. It’s next level
I thought both clubs did well late last year with their finals campaigns. "Give 'em Hell" and "Yield to None" were both excellent. Although the Dogs one is now easily repurposed as "Yield to One" which makes me like it even more as a Melbourne supporter.

I’m using this reply to redirect back to that dreadful “through and through” campaign. Two questions occur. Firstly is it just me or does it seem weird to launch a season PR campaign in round 3. Secondly, am I going mad it reading this waffle as some sort of attempt to move away from The Western TM? Because if I’m reading this right then this is an even worse idea then their previous rebrand.

I do wonder if they had planned on launching it on the weekend of round 1 but the Beverage thing was too much of a distraction. The other alternative is this was supposed to come out before the season and the media manager forgot to hit the 'submit' button.

And the part where they seem to be apologising for any links to the western suburbs? That is the bit that seemed really strange to me.

Maybe I read it wrong though. It reads like a collection of garbled thoughts by Marcus Bontempelli

Agree that it's very meh and a bit all over the shop. I think it's fair enough for them to try and move beyond being the battlers of 'The West' and create a broader appeal/supporter base. However this seems to be a bunch of half-cooked ideas thrown together without much thought, and risks losing the connection to the battler history that has brought in a lot of fans.
It's a hard angle to get right, and kudos to them for trying, but it comes across as confused and half-hearted.

TBH, I think they should have stuck it out with Footscray all those years back.

How much broader do they want to get than one of the four cardinal directions?

There's now a Greater Western in the league so the stakes have been raised substantially. Although calling themselves the Greatest Western Bulldogs might be a bridge too far given recent results.
