Lol they easily could have won that game and should have if not for bad kicking. They've never finished top 4 under Beveridge. They'll do what they always do and get hot for long enough to make finals. Losing to us and then blowing a game against Carlton isn't season over stuff.
It’s not about season over. But perhaps won’t contend this year. Missing all those shots in the last quarter. You think they aren’t under pressure?

I think they've never finished top 4. So they lose games. I still think theyll win games they very easily could be 1-1 and not under pressure. You don't bin the season over some misses in the last quarter.

Dogs do a have cursed feel about them to me tho. Logic says they are too talented to miss the 8 no doubt. But they might have been worked out a bit also.

Won those three finals games but what is it now? 3-6 in their last 9 games?
Only 2-4 when you don't count games against the unstoppable juggernaut.

Weird that they’ve never finished top 4 under Bevo, that flag really pads his coaching career (as it absolutely would, it’s a bloody premiership), but not spectacular outside of that. They have serious key position issues, especially their backline, and their midfield is getting beaten despite it’s strength.

Still think they’ll finish top 6, can challenge anyone on their day, but not sure they can win a flag with that back 6.

Bulldogs will be fine but on current form I don't see them as serious contenders. They'll probably get bounced in the first or second week of finals at this rate. They need to sort out their backline, be interesting to see if they reinvent one of the KPF prospects as a FB/CHB. Their ruck is abysmal; English ain't that guy. He is better suited to play as the tall forward that pinch hits.

Also Bont has been unimpressive for the opening two rounds. Their midfield is completely impotent without him firing.

This is why there should be a midseason draft imo. Obviously this trade would have way more parts etc but imagine if halfway through the year Richmond is 2-8 an realise the windows shut. Dogs are 5-5 and need some help. They go to Richmond and say here's Dunkley an a future first for Grimes.

Big help for both clubs. Kinda sucks that once you start the year shit it's just a write off

Midfield mix is all out without Bont being cherry ripe.

Pushed Libba to a flank and Dunkley is in there kicking helicopters (should have traded him when they had the chance). Also English is a non factor in the ruck - Pittonet broke the record for most taps to advantage in a quarter last night and set the Blues up from the get go.

Midfield has problems wrestling back momentum when the bulls get going and their KPPs are shockin'

I really dont want to turn the comp into an American style league in that way, just creates so many dead rubbers in the later part of the year with teams trading away players for picks.

Mate there's already ****loads of dead rubbers lol teams start planning for next year at like round 14 anyway.

wouldnt work anyway with the afl making you pay a minimum salary cap of 95% so shut your pie hole.

If my team was well placed by the mid season draft, but weren’t able to improve their team in the same way and then lost, I’d be dirty. In that example we might not have anything of need for Richmond to send us Grimes or dont need the player available. Teams with the best depth across the field and fitness staff will survive. Injury crisis is just bad luck. If it is just a bad start, be better. My opinion anyway.

Last night, especially the first half, Carlton looked like a team with everything to proove. The dogs look down on confidence and maybe there has been some doubt creep in about their game style. The end game is a way off but they don’t look like a stung runner up hell bent on revenge right now.

Don't think that's much of a reason, northern academies, games moved from COVID. Not playing every team home and away, next gen etc etc. There's a million things that aren't fair.

I get a feeling that injury he sustained round one might still be lurking.

Even so though, I read some bizarro stuff on BF last night about how overall his career pisses on that of Patrick Cripps. Well quite, but Cripps has had a completely knackered back for the past two years. Early days they were neck and neck, but with Bont having the luxury of a far stronger midfield around him
