Follows an attack on a "narrow minded" individual with an inference that I must be a beer-chugging, parma-gobbling bogan if I don't enjoy soccer. You're right, I do like a parma (although I don't drink).

FWIW, before I turned to footy I was a massive soccer fan. I watched probably 3 different leagues, played soccer myself and did spend huge amounts of time playing FIFA in my younger days. I actually had to force myself to like AFL, such was my level of obsession. Now the tables have turned

Not denying that, just isn't for me
Difference is what you said is narrow minded, what i said is fact ;)

Anyway, someone who claims to have followed it and played it would not consider it a putrid sport. Sounds like you are just making things up. Unless you got nutmegged to the point of oblivion and thats why you dislike the sport.

Why is the word "feminine" a slur?

In any case, I'd rather that putrid sport was not associated with my gender

Maybe he meant "Effeminate".

In a pluralist society, I think that all reasonable people will agree that consenting adults should be allowed to practise soccer in private.
Provided they don't scare the horses.

It is just annoying that when you have to use public toilets and you get the shock of your life when you stumble upon men playing soccer in the toilet.

It is a putrid sport. You've come to a laughable conclusion that one could possess the ability to lie about their distaste for a sport on an online sporting forum for God knows what gain, but no less mirthful than the assumption that differing opinions should be justified on said online sporting forum. Soccer itself is an enjoyable sport in backyard or amateur fielded confines, but re the professional leagues, it irks me that leagues fuelled by corruption, acting and mercenaries could have so many fawning over it. There has literally been cases of teams paying umpires for their prejudice, illegal handballs in decider finals, the list goes on and on. I supported a trifecta of Galatasaray/Arsenal/Victory, and I can say in hindsight that I much prefer the comparative innocence associated with the AFL and the Geelong Football Club. No less physically taxing a sport than soccer, much more entertaining for mine to follow. In some ways the AFL is becoming a lot like soccer, and this is a grave fear for the stay at home spectator. If there is anything to take from these leagues, it would be a stronger relationship with its lower divisions. Port Melbourne, for example, have been pretty successful in the VFL, while the AFL has been pretty lenient towards a number of perennial failures in St Kilda and Footscray for decades now. For now, the league stands on a firm middle ground.

Soccer is fine in small doses, I actually (surprisingly) developed a small interest in the sport whilst living in Germany, the Bundesliga can be quite entertaining and all of the Champions League goings on is a great social passtime that I was missing by not being able to watch AFL all the time.

I don't know why it needs to be commented on that it's feminine. Aside from the fact that no soccer players I met were particularly feminine, they're exactly like our players albeit European so as a starter they're not bogans.

Perhaps there are some chavvy Premier League twits but I never met any of those.

Sorry to say this but your post was meandering gobbledygook. Thought a laughable gif was kinder.
Why should I care for your reception? It's my opinion. Soccer is rubbish and it is a view I am entitled to, whether I am labelled as a VB-guzzler, scribe of all things "meandering gobbledygook" or otherwise

I agree you shouldn't care. Which makes me wonder why you continue to draw attention to it.;)

I have to disagree. Everton do not have the squad for a top 4 spot. Sure, they have not met expectations this season, but I feel the squad would only be a 5th-8th squad anyway at best.

The squad does not meet the high's of a few seasons ago in my opinion.

Nope. I'm not even sold we're top 4 quality going into the upcoming season. Top 4 starting XI but depth is not.

Everton at present are further back than us. Get your shit together with Koeman and you should be a Europe quality squad in no time.

Ohh a Geelong supporting Tottenham fan.

How exciting!
I've been here for years dude. Even on the first page of this thread under a different name.
