How do we compare?

that midfield shits all over ours. Its funny to think how overrated our midfield has been over the years...always has been seen as one of the best but not sure now it ever was (by commentators, journos and the public at least).

What strikes me is they are all quite tall and big, yet able to run.

Fyfe - Gun
Mundy - Gun and improved with more support around him now
Barlow - Ditto
Crowley - Actually has always been quite good, used to be underrated i think
Hill - Gun. Line breaker.
Mzungu - Handy.

Based on performance, particularly this year, you'd have to say the 'big' names of our midfield in Judd, Murphy and Gibbs are no where near as good as Fyfe, Mundy, Hill and Barlow...even though our trio are seen as stars and were high draft picks whereas Freo's are not (except Hill).

Our midfield AT THEIR BEST is probably equal to Fremantle's but we aint getting that atm.

I hope to see Garlett and Yarran run through the midfield more often

It'd be great if that was to happen but I'm not sure they are that well suited to getting in and under that much. Sure, if the ball is fed out to them they will burn off the opposition with their pace but the question is, can we afford to have players of that ilk hanging out of the contest waiting for the shuffle out ??

That's pretty funny - we are getting smashed by the top sides in the midfield because other than our crash and bash beauties the others are too damn lazy. The only mid that is coming along nicely is Gibbs. Unfortunately.
