Does that not sound a lot like the talk that was going around last year about Naitanui?

The talk last year was that he would have gone No1 if he had been 4 days older & that in the U18 he dominated Kruzer the eventual No1 draft pick.

He was also playing WAFL seniors as a 17yo.

No, not at all. Yes it's similar in that he was talked about as No.1 a year out from the draft, but being touted as No.1 is where the similarity ends. They were talked about for 2 very different reasons, Gibbs because of his unbelievable football ability and Naitanui purely because of his athletic ability.

Gibbs was the traditional No.1 draft pick hype, he played SANFL seniors for 2 years and finished 3rd in the Glenelg B&F at 17. Naitanui is non-traditional hype and it's all about what he could be turned into, not what he's already got. Yes he's playing WAFL at 17/18, but purely based on his amazing leap. Most kids need to have their games tightened up and fine tuned, Naitanui's needs to be built from almost the ground up.

So i still don't think Gibbs is a good comparison.
