Unlike Carlton who arrogantly believe they can do what ever they want because they are Carlton, in the immediate future the storm will be the only NRL club you can safely say are not cheating.

The people responsible will be weeded out and those left behind will be under close scrutiny from the league for some time. They cant afford to be anything but above board. Don't give up on them now, a time that they need all the support they can get.

It's interesting the premierships have not been handed to the runner ups, which at face value would seem the obvious this to do. Perhaps the NRL are expecting a bit more of these revelations?
Why do the runners-up deserve it any more than the preliminary finalists beaten by Melbourne?

Look, I do not want to take this thread away from the real meaning, however, I do have to point out the stupidity of your last sentence.

What proof do you have that says, 'No one wants to play for the Lions or Swans'? According to the number of players from other clubs coming to both sides this year is another reaseon against your stupid post.

If players wanted to play for the Swans they wouldn't have the salary cap concessions that they enjoy. It's not a standard of living b/s that they try and flog it off as.

The fact is the salary cap concessions are made to try and put Sydney and Brisbane on a level footing with the primary AFL based clubs because of a natural desire to represent these clubs.

The Melbourne Storm have always had the same problems that the likes of the Swans and Lions face in the AFL yet the NRL has never given them anything remotely close to what the AFL gives those teams.

The fact is had the NRL given the Storm something similar then we'd be able to retain the talent that we develop rather than having to vastly overpay our talent (just as Brisbane and Sydney do in the AFL) to keep them up there.

The NRL wanted a Melbourne based club but would never do what needed to be done to help ensure it's success. Winning multiple premierships isn't the success I'm speaking of - but the fact is that the total sum that the Storm rorted the NRL of is LESS (by a good million or so) than what the Swans/Lions enjoy.

As bad as Waldron was NRL fans in general should direct their anger not only towards the criminals who did this but to the NRL itself. Not only the Melbourne Storm is dead but the NRL is also.

The league has been dying and has been for a long time. Do you think that the Storm are the only team in the comp who have been guilty of this? Hardly. You'll find that the Storm are the tip of the iceberg.

I wonder how the media/NRL fans will treat the Broncos when the real reason why Karmichael Hunt (and other players) have (or will) leave that club is revealed?

Or even anyone else beaten in the finals by Melbourne in those years.

It's not as simple as awarding it to the runners up.

I will admit, have been loathe to logon to League Unlimited to see what the masses north of the border have been saying, but certainly from Parramatta's perspective, everyone seems to be "Yes we'd take it but let's be fair, teams finished 9th, different make up of finals" etc etc Osborne was of this attitude too.

Very impressive from Parra people :thumbsu:

I was thinking, what about the teams who missed the Grand Final in 2006 and 2008? They would be dirty too.

^ Yep. Who is to say Manly for certain would have beaten Cronulla in '08? (Highly likely but still)
Yes. And other beaten finalists etc. Even other beaten teams during the home and away season.

Even we have some class once in a while.:D

i think the reasoning of not awarding the premiership to the runner up, is the fact that the runner up didnt win the cup, and may not have even if they were playing someone else. you cant award a premiership unless it is actually won.

Auckmel, FWIW even the most rusted on AR fan takes no consolation from seeing that hardy band of Storm supporters put in this terrible situation. Strangely enough I don't think I have ever felt so close to Melbourne's Rugby League team and maybe, just maybe if the club can survive this terrible time, it will be the making of them.

Cheers mate. :thumbsu:

I really feel sorry for sad people like you. You have my pity.

Why shouldn't I be happy? My team the North Sydney Bears, who I have supported since I was six years old, and who were a foundation club with over 80 years history(something you Storm supporters would have no idea of) were evicted from the competition for the sole reason that it was convenient in order to promote the NRL's dream of expansion. Where was the sympathy for me from Storm supporters when my club was dumped in order to promote your cheating mob? You Storm supporters think you have it bad. I had my heart and soul ripped out.

Jesus dude. I feel even more sorry for you now.
Two wrongs don't make a right. But hey, if it makes you happy then go right ahead and dance on our grave.
I realise you barracked for the Bears. When that happened I was following AFL and I am still gutted for the Fitzroy supporters. I went to their last game in Melbourne and it was gut wrenching watching my side beat hem by 151 points. I gained no pleasure in it all.
Remember, two wrongs don't make a right.

To compare this to Fitzroy is a bit ridiculous. News Limited we the ones who ripped RL apart, and now they are receiving a just punishment for rampant cheating and fraud. If the Storm die, it's quite likely they'll be replaced in the medium term by a new RL club anyway.
