... vs Collingwood this weekend.

It isn't because, due to a few key factors, we've been f**ked royally.

It shits me, I must say. I know form reasons play a part of it, but the biggest part is clearly bloody injuries.

IMO if injuries can play this big a part in a team's performance for the year, then you should have a bloody team of people (by team I mean 3-6, not 22) in charge of researching against this shit, and providing ways to avoid it. Call it R&D. What's the point of having umpteen assistant coaches when they're all assistant coaching a reserves side??

Priorities should lie where things are most desperate.

Forgive the intrusion but how many more best 22 do you have to come back?
I know already of Adcock and Merret, not to mention a struggling Brown.
Do you think the hardness of the Gabba is the major cause of such injury woes? If so, why has it taken this long for something to be done about it?
Look forward to the clash on Saturday.

Adcock, Merrett, Drummond, Brennan all currently out. Patfull and Black missed games. Brown, Fevola injured to a lesser extent. I think Power and Clark have been too, or at least been playing like it.

Those OUT

Drummond (out) (in top 3 players)
Brennan (out) (in top 5 players)
Adcock (out) (in top 12 players)
Merrett (out) (in top 6 players)

Those playing INJ

Brown (INJ) (best at club)
Fevola (INJ) (in top 4 players)
Power (INJ) (in top 8 players)
Redden (INJ) (2nd year mid, most promising player at start of season)

That's the key ones. You'll realise that 5 of our best 6 players are listed.

How would the Pies go with 5 of their best 6 out of playing severely injured?

Add Sherman , Mitch to that list - both top 10 IMO and both been out for a number of games

I totally agree with the above , Injuries have been the major reason for our poor performances. Not the game plan , recruiting , assistant coaches etc that everyone seems to be having a go at. We seemed to be playing OK if I recall when we had a fit team on the park.

After round 4, i penciled this game as game of the round.

2 top 4 sides( at the time), old enemies yadda yadda yadda...

Sadly because of injuries and form( the Pies have been in pretty good nick i must say), i don't think this game will live up to expectations.

Prove us wrong Lions.

Between rounds 3 to 8 last year we basically did not have a forward line. We were 3-5 at Round 8 if memory serves me correctly.

We turned it around with a tough win undermanned interstate against the Eagles and finished Top 4 in the end. Never too late if you get things right. (cough rest Browny this week cough)

Shhh....it is much more dramatic to run around flailing your arms above your head screaming that the season's over. ;)
