Reserve seat games have to be declared 2-3 weeks out from the game, prior to the ground selling GA – because Ticketmaster started selling General Admission it can’t be upgraded

Apparently the AFL and Telstra Dome went to the CFC 2-3 weeks ago, asking if they could declare it a fully ticketed match meaning the 16 game and 18 game ticket holders from both clubs would have to pay more for a seat, Carlton declined and it was left as a walk up event.

If the Telstra Dome exhaust its GA allocation, it still has to leave 3,000 seats back for Carlton 18 game and Hawthorn 16 game members on the night of the event, if the Dome management is confident that the members won’t fill it, the remaining seats will be released to the public.

Really this game should have been at the MCG anyway, considering the huge attendances at this fixture in recent years, but obviously due to the circumstances it’s extremely rare that a dead rubber between 2nd and 11th will sell out the Telstra Dome.
Exactly right. I wasnt aware of the dealing between TD and Carlton, but to think that just because standing room tickets are being sold means every seat has been filled is lunancy.

TD will still hold back extra tickets though. I'd bet anything on it. They need something to sell in case those members, or the vast majority of them, do turn up.

The fact the game is a dead rubber is meaningless. Everyone suspected this game would be the 100 goal shootout (and that exactly how it turned out). That alone will bring fans though the gates.

What I'm saying is that Telstra Dome has nothing to gain by selling the place out having not declared it a fully ticketed match. All it does is piss people off and means TD loses money through not selling reserved GA tickets.
They are not selling GA reserved tickets. These have sold out. Only GA tickets (no reserved seat) are available, and by the sounds of it, standing room only now.

I take your meaning and in all likelihood they will hold some seats back......BUT

......since when has pissing patrons off been a concern of TD management? Actually they seem to enjoy it. General memberships are "subject to capacity" so people will only have themselves to blame.

Secondly, lets say they hold back 3,000 GA seats for the walk up members, and not all of them come.

We have the situation we had last year where only standing room tickets were being sold, and it was "sold out" yet the crowd figure was below capacity.

This costs them money by not having filled the stadium.

What I don't get is why I can't, as a member, upgrade to a reserved seat, and instead, have to be part of that "allocation" or buy my own ticket?

Anyway, I have my ticket..........

Silver Members can rock up with their ticket, but u should arrive there early IE 5 PM ..
I'm a standing room dude every week anyway, and I'll spend a nice time having some pots at the Locker Bar ...
I think now it's an annual tradition to get totally shitfaced for the last game of the season ..

I think you could have a week ago but all the reserved seats are now sold so there are no seats left for you to upgrade to

You misread me. I was talking about IF it was a fully ticketed match.

And I agree that TD isn't particularly concerned about disappointing people generally (TD is one big disappointment itself), but why piss people off unnecessarily? Having 400 pissed off people outside your stadium right before an event is not a good look. Nor is the fact that many of those people (many of whom wont hold memberships) wont ever bother to come back to TD when they could just as frequently have the opportunity to see thier team play at the MCG in future.

Last year the official figure was actually above capacity I believe. But in any event- have you ever seen the MCG fully reach capacity, even on GF day? Capacity figures are more about health and safety issues than actual numbers.

Ok. I've looked through and read a whole bunch of stuff.

I have a Silver membership.

How do I get in? Do i just walk up and scan or, purchase a ticket through my membership (also how do I do this)

Going by all reports it's a non ticketed game. Scan your membership and you will get in. However, having said that...it seems as if it will be very close to a sell out. Get there early, in case it's a lock out.

Should be a cracker, can't wait :thumbsu:

Same as me.

You are subject to capacity - this means if you turn up and its sold out you won't get in.

You have two options.

1. Buy a general admission ticket now, and for the sake of $22 you know you will see the game.

2. Take your chances on the day, but get in early (gates open 5pm IIRC) as there will be many people like yourself that will be trying to get in on their memberships and not pay.

Good luck.

The game should never have been scheduled, just look at the membership numbers of both clubs and look whose playing at the vacant MCG on the same day

This isn't a home game thing, if it was a Hawthorn home game at the Dome, I'd be 100% behind the thousands of Blues fans complaining they couldn't get in the ground, its just another way the AFL can shaft the grassroots fans for the corporate crowd

Football should be about encouraging more people to go to games, not driving them away

Thats the part i dont understand. I have a silver membership aswell and am planning on walking up at 5, standing up for the game and sinkin piss.

Yet i have to buy a GA ticket? Thats what my membership is for....it gets me admitted.

well what they do down at skilled, is they hold back about 3 thousand general admin tickets for walk up members. once there gets more then 3 thousand walk up members throuigh they will block all the rest. (dont think this has ever happened though thankfully)

id say it will be the same thing, but with probably more seats held back at the telstra dome. You just have to get there early.

Read your card.

"Subject to capacity"........i.e. if it sells out then you won't get in.

If the TD reserve some tickets then at 5pm you'll get in........but if they only hold 3000, and there are 5,000 waiting to get in (and a lot of them will be Hawks supporters), then you may not get in.

Also, if a game is declared "fully tickted" (which this one isn't) then you will need to purchase an upgrade for about $10.

As our crowds get bigger next year we can expect to see some issues at the Dome for Melbourne based club games. The upgrade to reserve seat may be on the cards in years to come.:thumbsu:

I can get in with my 16 game Hawthorn membership, but I'd have to get there early.

Bluebear am I missing something, I'm pretty sure GA is sold out!

Couldnt agree more. A lot of Hawthorn supporters along with plenty of Carlton supporters are getting dudded because of a silly agenda. Its pathetic.

There is no way the figure will be close to 3K at TD. Closer to 500 I'd say. Get there at 4:30 (when the ticket boxes open) if you want to be assured of a ticket and seat.

I'm getting there early with my 18 gamer, saving seats for friends that have bought GA tickets online. Should be OK, unless something is said before hand.

The biggest problem for us silver members is people rocking up and putting scarves over all the seats for their mates etc who come just before or after the bounce or not at all.
I usually get there with an hour to go and have found all these seats with scarves and coats and nobody in them.

Better off making it ticketed. Even then you sometimes have to get some sneaks out of your seat.

My late grandfather used to always say that backsides mind seats, not scarves, jackets, hats etc. He was more than happy to move them out of the way & sit down.

Well that's not very neighbourly....

This is seriousy %&$*#@ !! It should have been at the G. Take note Carlton,AFL, that weedy guy who draws up the fixture.....Next year put it at the G.:thumbsu:

And they say the Blues and Hawks wouldnt draw enough to a good friday fixture......2 years running now we will set telstra dome records.

Neither is reserving a whole row of seats for people who don't arrive until just before the game starts. These people should buy reserved seats or take 'pot luck' like other latecomers have to. In GA it should be 'first in, best dressed'. If you love your footy enough you will make sure you get there early to get a good seat.
