Tigers get no joy from bid to shift game

It's not about that.. Those 3 games were sold in order to reduce debt during our rebuild.. After next season it won't happen ever again.

The fact here is that Geelong have only allocated 200 tickets to our members which is just bullshit. At least give us a thousand.

We don't have to give you anything. The fact your mob cries because you don't get a supposedly fair allocation in your eyes is not Geelong's problem. The selling of homegames does beg the question of why you would complain of this when your club sees it fit to play elsewhere to meet their home game matches. There is a good chance you will be back at KP unless you improve, the AFL makes this fixture an away game permanently or if you do have a game in Melbourne you show that you can bring the crowd well above KP stadium capacity.

Look if you all bothered to turn up to games between Richmond and Geelong when they're at Etihad and the MCG then the AFL would never send you to Geelong.

200 tickets is fine.

How is this even an issue? This is Geelong's home ground so I don't understand how teams are requesting to NOT play there. I think people get confused because no other Victorian side has sole residency of their ground, but it's akin to requesting to play Adelaide at etihad for the same reasons. It doesn't matter if the ground holds 4 people, you play home and then you play away, so if you are playing Geelong away and you get sent to Kardinia, I don't see how you're in any position to complain.

As for the ticket allocation, nothing is stopping richmond supporters just buying GA tickets like anyone else, it's not like there can only be 250 Richmond fans inside the ground.

Lets get this straight, your suggesting Richmond members to spend extra money for a GA ticket, when they have allready payed for access to this game with a full membership.. You Sir are a f#$%!

You're right, and if you played 11 home games there, I'd agree.

But against some clubs, you shift it.

With the renovations, the ground is just too small, so the exception for larger clubs should have been broadened until the rebuild was complete.

How have they already paid for the game? If they bought an away match membership as well? The majority of members would be 11 game home match members meaning they have ZERO entitlements for this match. I'm surprised there are any members passes for Richmond aside from the cheersquad. It's an AWAY match, and as such, only Geelong's members should be considered. Anybody else can purchase a GA ticket.

I guess it depends what membership you have, my Geelong membership allows me into every Geelong game in Victoria, but it doesnt garauntee me a seat, if that game happens to be ticketed I then have to buy a seat regardless of the membership. So considering the Geelong games will be short of seats, it's not unreasonable to make everyone have a ticket. I'll probably have to buy one even though I usually just waltz in for Geelong games.

If you've paid for a membership that gives you an actual seat every game then it's fair enough you'd be pissed, but at the end of the day it is what it is and everyone has to deal with it.

Yes but they're our games to shift, not for opposition clubs to request to be shifted. I still don't see the argument from Richmond's point of view, especially when they stage home games in Darwin - they're hardly looking out for their supporters there even when they have control of the fixturing.

You are a Richmond supporter (sorry for the insult).

Can't believe you are swearing at a Cats fan on this. Grow up.

You should have a crack at the Dodgy Brothers organisation that is the Richmond Football Club - They have sold you something that they cannot provide!

As has been said many times in this thread, Geelong v Richmond is not a big drawing match.

Not so long ago... 2011 Round 18 these teams played at Etihad. Consdering the bye and I'm assuming you missed the finals last year (can't be bothered checking) it wasn't that many games ago.

Funny thing is all you diehard tigers fans that never miss a game all forget it (probably because you didn't bother going to the game!)

But against some clubs, you shift it.
Fair point, but Richmond have done nothing to deserve shifting it.

You are not one of the "some clubs"

Seriously there are only three things of interest in the match.

1. Geelong are showing off the Premiership Flag
2. Will the Tigers continue their winless season?
3. Will Geelong rack up some records?

Fun fact:

Last Etihad/MCG match between Geelong and North Melbourne drew 38,373 (about 5,000 more than the last Cats v Tigers match in Melbourne)

Guess what? Club members have to pay for a ticket when an Etihad game is fully ticketed. Same deal for Kardinia Park. A membership does not guarantee access to a match (it even says this on the back of membership cards and in membership brochures).
It is hilarious that Richmond are now squealing like stuck pigs over the scheduling of the match for KP. How intelligent they are not only in deciding to complain about it 3 weeks from the actual match (when they could have done something about it in October), but including it in their membership package knowing that only 200 seats will be available to their members.

Going on 20 pages now.

Surely someone couldve put this thread to bed a few days ago by commenting how Richmond have a recent history of taking home matches away from their own membership base, and that it continues this season. A bit rich of Gale and the club in this case to be having a whine about their membership and supporters inability to attend an away game.

This is incompetence from the Richmond Football Club. They've failed to do their due diligence. They sold packages for a game members would struggle to attend.

I wish club supporters would really look at issues logically instead of the one-eyed mentality they constantly approach them. Geelong are blameless here. If the match is moved, then the consequences shift to them. They have their own commitments to uphold.

Why don't Richmond move their home game from Cairns back to Melbourne, and so deliver the service they promised to deliver their 16-game members? For the answer, refer back to the last sentence of the previous paragraph.

Richmond sold a home game last year to Cairns against Gold Coast, have lost the moral argument to switch this game IMHO ...

Richmond sold a game to Cairns last year and had no regard to members of the club there and then so don't see how it is nothing but glasshouses they live in when trying to bitch about Geelong FC's game arrangements.

Until Richmond stop depriving their own supporters of seeing Richmond by selling home matches interstate, then they have zero credibility on this issue.

Why should Geelong take a financial hit, abuse the relationship with the city of geelong and disappoint the core supporter base just so a bunch of whinging supporters can see their crap club play.

And the Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon argument is a classic dog in the manger argument.

This is absolutely laughable from Richmond, FFS they sell HOME games interstate.

How many Richmond members missed out on seeing their side last year when they hosted games in Darwin and Cairns.

Now they're upset about Geelong wanting to play a game at home?

Did you even bother to read through the thread mcgarnacle?

It's a terrific thread... sure we can get it to 50 pages with a few more Tigers fans who don't go to matches complaining that they can't get to the game they wouldn't have gone to anyway.
