If Roo and Goody are out maybe it is time to bring in Massie and Gill into the side.

Our forward line has been a problem all year lets take a chance and put Gill in and see how he goes. Look how Westhoff has gone with Port, maybe we need to take a chance or two like that instead of being so safe all the time.

That is why we dont get rising star noms because the club has a history of usually not blooding younger players (even though Gill isnt young) until they have been on the list for a few years.

I wouldn't think that Roo would miss. Massie in for Goodwin looks like the right option. I'm not a huge Massie fan but he hasn't put a foot wrong playing for Norwood and he could play down back allowing Johncock to play up forward if required.

I would like to see Gill get an opportunity at some stage but unless one (more) of our talls gets dropped or injured I can't see it happening, particularly with his less than impressive form for North Adelaide.

Given Gill didn't play today, he would be no chance of playing ... which begs the question if Stevens doesn't pull up OK, what talls do we have left?

Given there is only 5 days until the next Crows match, is it possible Gill withdrew because of 'general soreness' today to allow him to be fresh and 'on-call' for the Kangaroos game?

I like your thinking

Is it really ''throw the sink at them and see what happens'' time?

Maybe it is?

While McGregor booted 3 yesterday (though 2 from frees he was at least in the contest), after a good first half in defence and thus deserves his spot for this week, he did not address one of (and there are more:() the major flaws up forward and that is our lack of speed/agility/ability to get clear of opponents or put defensive pressure on the rebounders

Welsh (when manned by the best defender), Ricciuto, McGregor, Stevens, Bock...all struggle to get clear and all struggle to provide any consistent defensive pressure.

From memory the Kangaroos have a reasonable defence without being overly tall but one which has good rebound and pace...we need a difference balance which requires (at least) one tall with agility/adequate pace/good ground skills plus the oft-mentioned decent crumber.

Given Griffen's loss of form/confidence/?soreness, i believe Gill could be the tall we need down there. If he is fit enough, let him roam across HF as Perrie's replacement but if not, FP for him.

Doubt it – it said in the advertiser today that he missed with an achilles.

INJURIES - Glenelg: Kane (corked thigh).

North: Gill (Achilles) withdrew from selected squad.

UMPIRES - T. Dey, A. Crosby, R. Williams.

CROWD - 4067 at Challenge Recruitment Oval, Glenelg.

I doubt the injury is too serious as he was walking around alright while having a chinwag on the phone, apparently said he was running late and was looking for Jars  but then said he was injured. It couldn't have been a bad achilles or he would have been struggling, we could have done with him out there even if he was injured.

Probably still wouldn't play him. We jump and and down when ever our forwards are going poorly. Admittedly they are not the greatest forward line going around but if we move the ball fast enough from defense and midfield into the forward line they are a geniune chance of scoring a decent score. There are some quality players in there and as frustrating as it is I think we just have to leave the mix as they are. I don't think Gill would have any more of an impact that any of the players in there are having. I feel what we are missing most is a crumbing forward. If our talls can't mark we never have that small forward type to crumb. Really missing Bode in that area. Just have to leave the forward line and hope Welsh can find some form, McGregor can lead the way and probably Scotty Stevens dos ome stuff in there. They are 3 forwards that must have 'decent' defenders on them and we just need to get delivery right to them. Would put Bock back to CHB and leave Stevens forward.

Agree delivery has been terrible of late. We where just blazing away into the forward line and putting our leading forwards under pressure.

Latest is, Gill was told by the Crows not to play after pulling up sore after training the other day.. he declared himself fit but obviously he is no longer owned by the NAFC. I don't think it means he will play next week, just a precautionary measure to guard against injury in the Bay game.
