Barry Hall was a dickhead in some ways. But he bought into the culture and performed (mostly). We're not going into this blindly. We have talked to Tippett this week. I'm convinced that he convinced us that he's no dickhead and that he wants to be a part of the way we do things.
Barry is a dickhead in every way.

What re you going to call Tippett now?
F*ckit possibly?

I'll be calling him Tippett. I'm disapointed he's going to Sydney, but Tippet is handling this infinitely better than the way Gunston handled his. Hardly even comparable.

If you selectively pick posts you can find people saying anything about anyone, and with all the vitriol about Tippett on the Adelaide board at the moment that would be easy to do.

Yes, there are knocks on his kicking, he particularly seems to get the yips from short distance, but he certainly didn't have any issues in the Prelim. He's one of the best (if not the best) contested marks in the comp, and almost always provides a great contest in the F50 for your smalls to work with. He's also a good ruckman, better than Pyke, and Tippett shits all over Pyke around the ground (yet Pyke is a "premiership player", so he must be better, right?) .

The other half of the side is that the Crows will almost certainly want someone who can come straight in and contribute to winning a flag next year. I doubt the club will settle for a draft pick unless it's particularly high, or they don't have any other option, as the selected player will undoubtedly not contribute for 2-3 years.

Also two mid-range picks do not make one good one. 1 top 10 pick is more valuable than 2 picks between 20 and 40.
They are just as good if you draft well. Like Adam Goodes and Sam Reid will tell you.

Fair enough to be honest. System doesn't work that well if the premiers can land the big name during trade week.

Obviously we'll see what we give up but at this early stage it doesn't seem right. I suppose Grundy is going to be the name thrown up a fair bit. We'll have to give up a premiership player otherwise we're bending Adelaide over. Pick 22 heading there way as well most likely.

Not fair enough, and its disappointing to see a usually clear headed person such as yourself bendong over to trolls. There were years we struggled to pay the minimum, and heavily front ended contracts. That we have enough space to get tippett isn't surprising, and what I'm hearing is it'll be 22 + white.

Yeah I am a bit. Geelong lost Ablett which we could have afforded to keep had we the generous concessions Sydney receive.

I understand your line of thought, but in reality it wouldn't have quite worked that way. If you had an additional 900k most of it probably wouldve been swallowed up by all the premiership players you had to re-sign in the last few years. Everyone was accepting unders to keep the team together so every player on the list would've had a fatter salary to get them a little closer to market value. Or perhaps you could've afforded to keep someone like mumford. But to think you would've had a spare mill sitting there in vase of emergency is wishful thinking

Short memories on here...................have you forgotten Luke Ball mate?

How about Jolly who wanted to go back to Victoria but somehow would only go to Collingwood.
Last time I looked, those two are the ONLY reason you won your flag.

You make me laugh!
Here was I thinking everyone in the team contributed to it...

True; Tippet himself was pick 32, but there is a lot more luck involved, particularly these days as the thoroughness of recruiters increases.

Secondly, you might be lucky and get good solid players with mid range picks, but superstars that far down are rare. You don't get a Hodge, Franklin, or Dangerfield with pick 20. Goodes is the exception, not the rule.

Grundy is a possibility. Rohan less likely. The number of players we'd trade Jetta for would not even hit double digits.

Adelaide don't need defenders. They already have Rutten, Talia and Shaw. It wouldn't strengthen their team by adding Grundy

What? So misleading the club for the whole year is worse than not signing and going home?

Ive heard the names of Grundy, Jetta and Rohan being thrown up as trade bait.

Wouldnt mind seeing 22+Rohan

By an Adelaide radio station? Swans would be mad if they let either Jetta or Rohan go.

Talk on Twittersphere of unrest amongst Sydney players re: Tippett. Reported on Triple M as well.

Just a little reminder that seems to have already been forgotten, probably as it doesn't work with people's arguments.

Last year's TPP. Make of it what you will.

Not sure when Tippett moved to the Gold Coast but according to Wiki he was born in Sydney so close enough to 'home' I guess. Do agree that this cost of living extra is s**t. It might have been more when initiated in 2000 but Melbourne is bloody expensive now. Adelaide's cost of living is lower, should we take money off them?

And I strongly disagree with the large number of people upset at Tippett for "not going home". Sydney is just as much his home as QLD. He was born here, he has extended family here. He's just as much one of us if not more than up north.

Grundy is a possibility. Rohan less likely. The number of players we'd trade Jetta for would not even hit double digits.
Is Swans and Crows wanna deal with each other then there has to be a 3rd or 4th club involved, because honestly i can't see a honest deal coming out of this.

Either that or Sydney should just not mess with their list, as they were good enough to win the Premiership without him.
Adelaide have thrown out the "nice guy" agreement with Tippet's contract so if we don't like what the Swans have to offer then he will have to deal with going to Queensland.

I still honestly believe Gold Coast and Brisbane are prime shoe in's for Tippets services

Carlton supporter talking about other clubs paying players outside the normal salary cap, get out of town.

1. Sydney's concession is allowed by the AFL whereas Carlton's breach was not, therefore the club was punished.
2. What has the salary cap breach got to do with me being a supporter? It's not like all Carlton supporters had a vote on whether or not they wanted to breach the cap.

Paying someone in excess of $600/year represents a player in you top 5 players.

Sydney are going to have to find 2 top 10 draft picks to make it work. Sydney will have to pay significant overs because the crows will be hostile. Talk of Grundy and pick 22 is fairyland stuff.

Remember what the hawks paid for Burgoyne. If you rate some one as high as the swans have with the salary they are prepared to pay, then they will have to pony-up.
