There was a channel 7 promo during the year featuring the players. To a man, well except Kurt, they focussed on the team. Kurt's contribution? He wanted to be the best player he could be. Says it all really.

I've heard it all now - a professional sportsman who wants to be the best he can be.

That would be about right yes. He signed a contract extension which covers the next year however, and I'd assume that he may be on around 400k next year. After which, we will have plenty of money to give to him with Tippett's front loaded contract, White's contract off the books and Bolton's retirement.

We won't be priced out by anyone for him. :thumbsu:
So I'm right he's on $250k but then you think he's on $400k? Something doesn't compute. Besides even at $400k, Kurt will be earning more than him after only 6 games.

And you have only front loaded this contract. You've still got to re-sign him for 2015 & 2016.

i think it means that he signed on for 3 years at the end of 2009 for 250k
then earlier this year he re-signed (who know for how much or how long)
this is all assumption as there has been no media release by the swans about a contract extention

Well Kurt is now officially a Swan and we now move forward. He will leave a hole in our side and we didn't recruit well enough to cover him. We just need to hope one of McKernan, Johnson, Jenkins or Lynch can try and hold a spot there. But our midfield is very good and with enough good supply into the forward 50 we can kick winning scores.
I personally blame Sydney for how this whole thing ended up. If they had of offered a reasonable trade they would have got him, we would have something to work with going forward, Kurt would be playing the the first 11 matches next year. But they were the biggest tossers, refusing to offer pick 22 and a player we might be interested in. Infact they even demanded we take White as well refusing to even let us have just pick 22 alone. They just refused to offer anything of even remote value, and did it almost in an arrogant, smart arse type of way.
They have forever lost the tag of fair traders. And we have gained the tag of walk overs.

I'm done commenting.

Please don't quote me any more in this thread as I will not be responding.

Kurt Tippett is now a Sydney player and a few Crows supporters need to grow up and stop acting like spoilt brats who have had their toy taken from them.

So now your telling people how to react?

Some people like venting and $Kirt is the perfect villain for us to aim our anger

His behaviour is totally normal for anyone who wants to leave. He has good values for holding up to his end of the bargain, I can not remember reading him missing many training sessions or meetings, so his playing values can not come into question.

Sorry Alex, just can't agree with you here.

Normally I don't bother having a rant or a rave, but I'm prepared to make an exception with Tippett.

Let me first qualify everything I'm about to post by saying that I'm well aware of what my club Adelaide did, what Reid and Trigg did, what Harper did etc and that the club has copped it sweet with the penalties that the AFL has given it. If the club hadn't been so captivated by the potential of this money grabbing basketballer turned footballer then none of what happened would have happened - but they were and it did.

Good values my arse. His main value in life appears to be the almighty dollar. We paid him $600k when he was a $300k footballer. We offered him $800k when he was/is a $400k - $500k footballer, only to see him go home (ha ha) to Sydney for $900K.

Where were his values when he played the club along all year as if he was staying. The club that was concerned for him when he suffered his 3 concussions and sent him home to be with his family during the season to help him recover. All this did was to give Sydney an opportunity to send a delegation to talk to him in peace and quiet into leaving us and going to Sydney (I thought it was against AFL rules to directly approach an opposition team's player during a season).

Then at the end of the season he said he was going home to think it over on the weekend and make a decision ( a different home from Sydney this time). We now know of course, that this was a decision that he agreed to some weeks before, so that was all typical Tippett bullshit too. He had promised the club that he would return from the Gold Coast on either the Monday or Tuesday to inform them of his decision.

Here of course he showed what are really those good values you referred to Alex. He did not keep his word and return to the club as promised to advise of his decision face to face. No sir. The club got a phone call from his manager that his client would not be returning. Broken promise by a gutless wombat.

Then of course there are his friends for life, as he called them. His team-mates. Naturally a player gets all his mates together and tells them face to face what he is doing. What did our hero do?? He sent them an SMS. An SMS FFS. The majority of his team-mates now detest him and quite rightly so. He has clearly demonstrated how much they meant to him - fk-all.

Then came the attempt at a trade by Adelaide to get a fair deal for him. Their costly secret agreement was meant to not stand in his way if he wanted to go home (Gold Coast/ Brisbane), not allow marauders like Sydney to come and screw Adelaide out of a fair deal. So ruthless were Sydney in wanting to get a player that they were prepared to pay $900k a year for bugger-all that it drew the attention of the AFL and the rest is history.

Sydney could have only taken this stance after being fed information by the Tippett camp. Most players feel some form of moral obligation to the club that they have left that they want to see them at least get a half reasonable deal - but not this mongrel. Of course, that back-fired on both him and the peanut that calls himself Tippett's manager as we now know, but it cost Adelaide a heap as well in terms of money, draft picks and reputation. A half reasonable offer by Sydney would have avoided all of this to all parties and a lot of unpleasantness.

So Tippett has finally got to Sydney, blasting his former club and slagging the city in which we supporters live in the process. This man of high morals also got his fine doubled for not being remorseful or truthful at the hearing.

I'll miss him as a footballer and the one good game he played every 3rd or 4th game, but firmly believe that his departure will not have a major impact on Adelaide's prospects in 2013.

But I despise him as an individual and cannot find it in me to wish him or Sydney well. I hope that he becomes a cancer in the Sydney "culture" and that his new team-mates resent him for the money he is paid by comparison to them. If he were to get a good clip behind the ear that once again gave him concussion and it was determined that for health reasons that he should retire then all I could say is Karma always strikes those that deserve it.

Sydney were a team that I always respected and did not resent having hard-earned success. However their attitude towards the trade has been to offer a plate of crap while espousing that they are always a good trading team, always giving fair value.

Basically my goodwill towards them as a club has totally evaporated and I can only hope that their recent premiership cup sits alone in its cabinet for many decades.

I can hear the "Buts" and "It's all Adelaide's fault" etc etc coming thick and fast when some people read this.

Not interested. I know all about that and I'm not trying to lessen any blame on Adelaide.

Tippett has finally got to the club that he dumped his team-mates and supporters for, and this is my final Tippet rave/rant purely aimed at Tippett and Tippett alone.

End of rant/rave.

Thanks Macca. Great post. You've saved me the trouble. Now please could you explain how this relates to the Swans culture and why its a mismatch? I'm sick of having to explain over an over again...

Id rather see it wearing scummy swans shit than seeing pictures of him defiling a Crows Guersey, if I see one more picture in the advertiser with him in the Crows Guernsey I'll punch my computer. Ungrateful swine can piss off, hope the gutless little prick can't possibly set foot into our State again, can't have him contaminating our State any further. Enjoy the fishbowl you've now created for yourself, dickless w***er!

Also how many others here want to punch that stupid shit eating grin off it's ****ing ugly mug??

So, let me get this straight.

We lost some player, who we were apparently paying overs for, for nothing to Sydney.

We have an extra $800,000 to top up a few contract be a player in free agency next year.

A cancer has been removed from our club.

Thats the upside.

Our club acted wrongfully in resigning this anonymous player and got found out by the AFL and summarily fined

Our clubs good name has been tarnished

We still have the management in place who were responsible for this all

We have to put up with all the Sydney numpties gloating for the next 2 years at least.

The Adelaide board is polarised and gong off half cocked.

That's the downside

27,430 posts!!!!!!!!

That's the ludicrous side

It's over, ill let the future decide if I'm happy with Tippett at Sydney.

Still can't believe trigg has a job though.

Anyway I'm about done in this thread and hoping it dies soon. 27-28 k is looking good. Barring further controversy.

I think something close to the definition of 'embarrassment' is if a club's board has a single thread about a single ex-player among a playing list of 40+ — one who has never been held at Guantanamo Bay, nor acted as a close personal confidant of Gary Glitter; in fact, not even shagged Lara Bingle, nor been on a bender with Ben Cousins, as far as anyone knows — which winds up with more posts, than the actual numbers of people who attend one of that club's home games in 2013. So here's hoping that the thread now really does die a death, and/or the Crows' worst-attended 2013 home game pushes a little above the 28,261 for GWS in 2012, to save you that embarrassment.

Slowly, tediously, reluctantly, we all move on. It might be time to do so. This incident will be a very minor footnote in the history of our game.

If I read this right, you're drawing a relativity between the number of posts in a thread and the number of people who attended a football match.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight!!

To come up with this little gem, I'm thinking you've been a central participant in too many Mardi Gras IMO. :)

In response I can only hope that your IQ improves enough to make it greater than your shoe size. ;)
