If Sydney tried to be commercial everything would have been fine but I think Blutcher went around telling everyone pick Kurt tippett up because you wont have to give up much because Adelaide said they would give him up cheaply. What I dont understand in all this is why you would give him up at a second round pick . Even without this he would have got home if he wanted to go. Why were they trying to look after Gold Coasts interest three years ago.
It would have been to help guarantee he could get home easily.. Too hard to involve players obviously.. More than likely, GC would be down the bottom.. Not going to give up a 1st rounder.. 2nd rounder would possibly be around 20, acceptable by the AFL probably..

If they say 'an acceptable deal' in the secret contract, that's at Adelaide's discretion as to what is acceptable.. Which means we could play hard, which defeats the purpose of having an agreement to get home easily and guaranteed..

I reckon Tippet has had a well earned, shit week.
I reckon it may get worse by the end of the week.

Phoning the AFL to alert them to the clause.............$0.40
The fine we will cop for agreeing to Blucher ridiculous clause $500,000.00

Seeing Tippet deregistered and not going "home" to the city he was born in..............priceless.

Haha, soon this will be worthy of Adelaide the club losing their AFL license...

Haha, yeah I think this has all been blown out of proportion to an extent by the media. For the Crows to have gone to the AFL about this, I suspect we may get out of this better than many here think. I really do think the AFL smelled something fishy when we were about to sign for 23 and White, realised that we were clearly being held to ransom and told Triggy that if we spilled the beans, the AFL would go easy on us. I don't think the AFL likes the thought of player managers going round holding clubs to ransom and forcing them to sign backdoor contracts. After the Nixon mess, I think the AFL want every reason to clamp down on some of the more disreputable player managers.

Did Caro happen to mention what Tippett would be up to next year? Got a bad feeling one of either us or GC will have a crack now at him before trade period ends should this get the all clear.
I think you may be right and at the end of the day I think you'll actually benefit from it greatly.

If Tippett has gone home to Brisbane or Gold Coast, this would have all gone through to the keeper.

Tippett's greed in chasing Sydney's extra dollars and Sydney's determination to shaft Adelaide up the rear have been the trigger for Adelaide to come clen on this whole issue.

Not sure I understand how that works. The sticking point seems to be this "agreement" of a 2nd round pick trade.

Sydney offering pick 23 and White has led to (the majority of posts in) a 15,000 post thread on here, widespread uproar from Crows supporters and AFL supporters alike, the club refusing to deal and now (if Emma Quayle is right) the AFL would have vetoed that trade and launched an investigation anyway.

So how does Brisbane trading 2nd round pick 33 or Gold Coast trading 2nd round pick 37 get past the supporters who would be twice as angry, the media and also get past the AFL who were prepared to veto 23 & White?

I don't know the entire story but from what I know, Gretel Tippett got CFS at the beginning of last season and during her time off decided to take up Netball as she was bored with playing basketball.

However, her father allegedly asked the Adelaide lightning for a $65,000 pay day to play for them. I don't know the AIS stuff but now different stories are coming out, it really doesn't surprise me.

Heard the same sort of thing.

The Adelaide Lightning tried to recruit her, for obvious reasons and he demanded $65,000 a season for a 17 year old rookie WNBL player.
So he could have just cost his son $1mil if he sits next season out and his daughter whatever she could have earned... christmas dinner will be fun at the tippett household

That's it.. It will be worth every cent if he gets a nice whack..
This is his worst case scenario..
I'll pitch in to help pay the fine :D

You are assuming thats all that would be offered. Maybe the clubs would have worked out such a deal wouldnt be approved and we would have got a decent trade

yeah sorry BACCS pointed me to your earlier post on the topic, i missed it cos i was searching for an image instead of just typing it

Not so much suddenly (if it exists).. Things are only coming out and will come out now because the club has come forward with it.. We were never going to hear about it otherwise.. Caro also said there's more to come..

She said the she thinks there is more too this than what has been reported so far. She was only assuming, she doesn't have any concrete evidence of this

Yep, she will have to work a 9 to 5 day job now. Even if she ends up played Netball for the queensland (plays state league netball ATM) however, they were tipping her to be the next Lauren Jackson who was going to play in the WNBA. I'm more pissed off at him for getting her to quit basketball as she was unbelievably good. Not his maybe good at basketball but she was the real deal in underage basketball.

Why would anyone want to trade Tippett in now?

The term "mercenary" gets thrown around a lot, but seriously: this guy is leaving a team of young superstars (who just fell short of a grand final birth) for nothing but money.

Loyalty to your club probably doesn't exist in this day and age, but positively screwing them up the arse on the way out seems pretty unique to me.

Why did Brisbane draft Fevola? Why did Richmond draft Cousins? Why did the Bulldogs draft Aker and Hall? Why did the Crows draft Carey? I could go on.

Clubs will always go after guys with obvious talent, especially when there's a chance they may come at a reduced price. As much as I hate his guts right now and you are right, he is every bit a mercenary, but Kurt will bust his gut for whoever he plays for, he is a competitive beast and whoever he does end up playing for will do well out of him. He still has a good 5-6 years of extremely good football in him and players with his capabilities are exceedingly rare.

Karma is a bitch for all concerns. The crows will pick themselves up and will be fired up next year as we start to peak (without White :D) but for Tippett , being an individual, it is going to be very hard for him to shake the perception or being a mercenary with no ethics. Clubs will think twice about bringing in a player that may cause disharmony to their playing group. As most of us learnt as kids "There is no I in team Kurt"
