Excellent choice by the AFC. Phenomanal Counsel. I have worked in this field for almost 20 yrs and worked with and against him. If I was on trial for my life Mrs PJ knows exactly who to call.

Galbally is a media wh...e and tends to follow media driven cases. Eddo is quite different in so far as the cases he takes are of such consequence that the media will follow him by association.

He is ferocious....a brawler. His cross examinations are withering. I recall years ago when he was conducting public sector administrative hearings he ended up being told he could no longer be retained as defending counsel and was only permitted to prosecute.

In the sometimes murky world of legal practice he is a genuine rock star. I feel very confident that the AFL and Tippett/Blucher will now be in for a very uncomfortable couple of days. He will have Galbally for breakfast and Velocity will be left to pick the bones of what will be left of Blucher.

All good....kind of looking forward to it now:)

Great summary.

Could this get uglier???

It is my hope here is AFL target individuals responsible for this mess and not solely on club which will quickly stop these guys from bending rules .
Losing draft picks and fines to club dont seem to have a impact on these CEO gods in their ivory tower or these slimy agents or very very greedy players taking this game away from "Joe Blow" working man .
Hurt them where it really hurts in the pocket and pass onto struggling local SANFL clubs etc.
Vlad this is your chance to make all those involved in AFL treat the game and its supporters with respect that you cant commit a club to bend the rules.
Trigg, Harper and Reid should be fined strongly with bans and removed from our club along with $ippett and his cohorts getting bans as well as major fines .
Sydney should not escape this mess as they were using this illegal agreement to get their $mill man at no player cost.

I maybe wrong but will he even get the chance to cross examine Tippett or Blucher or even the AFL?

This won't be a trial - it's a tribunal where he will just get the opportunity to put his clients case forward.

It will be then up to the AFL commission to make a judgement and hand don a verdict.

On the issue of Tippett possibly being innocent, two things people need to remember:

1) AFL has charged him, its already done. They obviously therefore think not only does he have a case to answer, but that he's most likely guilty. If he gets off, its egg on their face, and AFL don't like that.

2) Caro said this is descending into a shit fight, with all parties trying to implicate the other more. Crows right now have their hands tied, they have the most to lose, and their lawyers will be saying STFU!!!!!

Who's lawyer has been on the radio?

Who is threatening legal action unless he gets to Sydney?

Who obviously wants to play 22 games next year?

Who appears to have the defense that "they forced me to sign an illegal agreement, even though I was already under contract and had no need to sign an extension..... but they forced me!!!"

Who appears to also have a defense that because he's 22 and lives in a fishbowl he cannot be expected to know the legality of any agreement he signs, although this goes against everything you are taught as a kid about entering into an agreement?

As someone on the sidelines, IMO the reason why Kurt is smelling sweet right now is his camp is on the media offensive, and the Crows have to STFU while they bulk buy lube. This is because he needs to rebuild his shattered rep (would you want him as a spokesman now?), and he needs the AFL to blink on his punishment. Reckon he is terrified about missing a year, and having a similar punishment to Chalmers (which will stop him getting to Sydney). Don't think the AFL will blink, but Kurt has nothing else to do right now.

Still think you guys should have gone for Franklin and Bash, they are Denny Crane.

Seriously, I do hope he rips KT a new one and diverts some of the blame away from AFC. Then you only get done for stupidity and don't cop a Carlton. However, since all parties have already been found guilty it is only a sentencing hearing and probably the sentences and press releases are already typed up and awaiting the click on the Send button.

So, how screwed would people say the Crows are on a scale of 'Up Shit Creek' to 'Vlad's not bothering with lube or foreplay'?

Vlad's thoughts:
The crows are successful so that can take a hit, and the AFL will want to show all other clubs except Carlton what happens if you go outside the rules.
The crows are non victorian club who are not in development market, if they are shit maybe it will help the NSW\QLD teams.

I am afraid the crows will loose draft picks for the 2013 draft as well as the 2012, which will be similar punishment to Carlton even though Carlton cheated the system for multiple years.

So the answer is ....

Vlad's not bothering with lube or foreplay and he replaced his d*ck with a pineapple.

or

Crows loose first 2 draft picks in 2012 and 2013. No access to PSD in either year.

At least if Joyce gets delisted we can be pretty sure nobody will beat us to picking him back up in the rookie draft (if we want him) because nobody has actually seen him play :p

Didnt miss much. It was an email to tell us that the club very much wishes it was able to send an email.

Sure but when they get their wish I probably won't get that one either

Good question. I really dont know what format this will be taking. However everything about how this is being framed makes it criminal in nature. If there are alternative versions of facts then Eddo will no doubt want to quiz them on the veracity. As to whether the format permits this? I would be very surprised if they dont allow it as its a pretty fundamental principle of due process. Im sure Eddo will persuade them, if not the first time, then the second or third...he just kind of wears you down. ;)

bernie lomax.....absolutely has the potential to get ugly. Any time an organisation invites 3 x QC's to peer into their back yard there will be discomfort. Ive no doubt that at some point one or all 3 will be encouraging the AFL to see the bigger picture.;)

is this jenny atm?

Well hats off to her if it is. :thumbsu:

I don't always agree with her either, but BigFooty is a place to express your opinion and at least she has the courage to have her own opinion - unlike some who never add positivity and just sit lurking in the shadows waiting to snipe with their one liners.

Dont agree we should have accepted Sydney's pick as it was already smelly, how we didn't accept Brisbanes offer last year is beyond belief. Arrogance, greed and ******* stupidity. Moos.

I was confused reading that article. Didn't this whole fiasco start because we tried to accept Sydney's trade offer of $kurt for 23 and White and it sent up a giant red flag at AFL headquarters?

I definitely agree about the Brisbane offer. Arrogant, dumb or both.

Somewhat interesting I thought that it seems Reid, Trigg & AFC will all be represented by the same lawyer, particularly as Reid & Trigg are facing separate and individual charges.

She's definitely going hard on that one.

I do find her a bit hypocritical on the Rendell incident though. I remember watching the Rendell interview on Footy Classified. Caro seemed to basically ignore what Rendell was saying and was just trying to attack him further. She had already made her mind up about the situation and nothing was going to remotely change her mind.

I got the impression that she though Trigg's decision was absolutely the right one to make, yet her article above now suggests that Trigg handled it badly (which I think he did). So she seems to have changed her opinion now to suit this article (which is not really surprising to me).

Agreed. Can only assume Counsel would have done DD in this respect and satisifed himself that his instructions dont disclose any conflict or disadvantage in him acting jointy for all 3.

Bugger! Why can't I watch this on TV

really hoping the AFL tribunals twitter account holder is allowed access to the hearing, that was magnificent during the season

Bugger! Why can't I watch this on TV

Given the absolute dispute re the facts between the Tippett camp and the AFC, plus the quality of the silks representing each of the 3 camps, it would make fascinating watching.

If all Caro's facts are right though, it might be like watching a bus go over the edge of a cliff. :(

Personally I feel a bit dirty knowing that the AFC has employed the same person Eugene McGee. I know laywers are just doing their job, and he obviously does his very well. However, if I was a laywer I don't know if my conscience would have let me represent someone who (to me at least) was guilty and trying to get out of killing someone via legal technicalities.
