I don't think we are in deep doodoo, however I think the club can see the afl have it in for them - particularly with all the damned leaking going on - and they arent going to go down without a fight.

Anyone have dimwits email addy? Time for a polite pointed email. He's presiding over a clearly uncontrolled, unethical and undisciplined rabble at AFL House. If its not him leaking, its his employee(s) and its time he took some control and it stopped. Its bringing our game into disrepute. The more this goes on, the worse the legal mauling the AFL is going to get in December. Its not rocket science.

Latest from Emma Quayle - Dangerfield contract now being investigated. Commission was adjourned to allow AFL to further investigate + allow Adelaide camp to prepare.

"The deals for Dangerfield, Tippett and van Berlo were lodged with the AFL and approved by the league, and Fairfax Media is not suggesting any wrongdoing by the players, or that Adelaide exceeded its salary-cap allowance."

SENSATIONALISM!!!

The AFL have it in for us? Come on.

To re-work an old Keating quote " you (Emma Quale) had an important place in Australian (football) Society at the Age, and you gave it all up to be a pop star with a big cheque....and now you're into this sort of stuff, it just goes to show what a 24 carat piss ant you are, Emma, that's for sure.

So what kind of punishment would the Crows be looking at for arranging AFL approved 3rd party deals for their players? Seems kind of silly to me, as long as it's approved by the AFL and is covered in the TPP, why does it matter who arranged it?

This is looking like shameful muck-raking on the part of EQ. Read the article. There's nothing there and even she says so. The Victorian media needs to be called to account.
is this starting to border on Slander?

Yeah ok silly statement. What is clear though that SOMEONE is trying to make things look worse than they are. Now is it the threat from tippets lawyer of a law suit that makes the afl want to have mud stick to us so they can throw the book at us? Or perhaps they want to make an example of us? Or perhaps they have no ****ing control of their staff who are leaking like niagara falls? Either way, someone at afl house is undermining the whole process. Do you think we would have called in all these QCS if they hadn't started dredging up all these third party deals the we clearly believe are above board? Seems to me we're happy to cop it for the Tippett ****-up but are putting our foot down at any other suggestion that we are cheats.

Because it can be abused. We can work with a manager and say "hey, we'll give your player a bit less this year but he'll get a knock on the door in a week that will help make up the shortfall, if you know what I mean". And then we have extra to spend in our cap.

I'm still a long way from believing that Quayle is simply making things up here. The one good thing that is coming out of this whole scenario is that the entire league is likely to receive a pretty big investigation. That won't help us though.

I just hope that the AFL ends up making an example of the individuals, rather than coming down too harsh on the club. I doubt it, though.

Lol how ridiculous.
Why is it ridiculous? There has been lots of examples around the world where "breakaway" competitions have formed. Where do you think One Day International Cricket came from?

I always rated Emma highly prior to the Tippett saga. Her best work was done around draft time, and she certainly knew what was going on with the young lads and who were the more popular fancies pre-draft etc.

However, sadly she has sold her soul (to borrow a phrase) and joined Caroline Wilson in the muck-raking form of "journalism" where you make wild accusations as if they were fact in spite of having no proof or evidence.

People's reputations are damaged by this sensational trash type of reporting even if they are innocent.

I never thought Emma would lower her standards to become part of the soul-less gutter reporters.

I thought she was better than that. I was wrong.

I agree totally. I think she should just stick to the draft as I think she is in waay over her head with the Tippett and now 3rd party agreement saga. I just get the feeling that Caro Wilson thinks that because Emma has a great reputation in the AFL community people will listen to her. If that is the case what sort of person does that make Caro Wilson? Well I suppose we all know what the answer to that question is.

He's right, it's ridiculous. One Day International Cricket came about because some ridiculously rich businessman made it happen. It's not going to happen here.

However, hopefully this whole scenario will see the AFL tighten up their act a little bit. I reckon the AFLPA have just been waiting for an opportunity to sue the AFL and they're looking pretty negligent right now.

Oh really, it can't happen? Did you forget the Super League in Rugby League? Cast your mind back to 1997.

Then let's cast our eyes to the other football game, soccer. The NSL (National Soccer League) was dismembered and a new A-League formed with completely new teams. But as you say, it can't happen.

Here is my idea for a new league and the teams that will happily merge together.

SFL (Super Football League)
====================
Adelaide Crows
West Coast Eagles
Collingwood
Melbourne (Thrown out by the AFL for tanking)
Western Bulldogs (renamed to Footscray)
Brisbane Lions
Geelong
Carlton

yeah and how did that end up? You been to many Rams games lately?
You just don't get it do you. Those clubs made a statement, a LOUD one, forming a breakaway league for 1 season and thus the NRL as we know it today was born. You obviously don't follow other sports very closely do you. But as you said , it "can't" happen...lol. What a joke.

I said it "won't" happen, not "can't". Of course it could happen - but it won't. Not here, not this time. Maybe one day in the future.
So you've gone from "won't" to "Maybe" in the one sentence. Anyway, I'm getting pretty sick of the AFL system anyway, it's not a fair competition, the teams don't even play each other twice for christ's sake.

The clubs themselves don't own the rights to their names, colours etc. The collective body known as the AFL does. The AFL is the controlling body and actually licenses teams to play in its competition.
Any breakaway league could not use any of the existing names, colours, logos etc of the currently licensed clubs.

The AFL own the associated club nick-names 'TM' so that will never happen.

Would have to be new clubs eg:

Adelaide Sharks
Brisbane Bulls
Collingwood Cockies etc

I actually dont believe thats clear. I worry that we're delving deeper into conspiracy theories, and the need to develop an 'enemy' to blame this on (although that has been apparent throughout the whole process, we've cycled through various enemies who have 'screwed' our poor club over throughout this saga beginning with Tippett and Sydney, moving to various journalists, and now the league itself).

I also dont believe its reasonable to draw any sort of inference from the hiring of lawyers of whatever quality. There are numerous reasons why someone would hire a lawyer. It cannot be used to suggest guilt, innocence or misconduct on someone's part.

How do these sound for the new breakaway league?

SFL (Super Football League)
====================
Adelaide Cows
West Coast Weasels
Collingwood Ferrals
Melbourne Tankers
Western Bullfrogs
Brisbane Tigers
Geelong Pussys
Carlton Navy Seals

I must admit that I had to skip every second page to try and catch to todays activity so I may have missed somes statements. One of the press releases had Kennett getting pissed that the AFC can participate in this years draft. What gets me going is that this guy who holds a lofty standing within AFL circles can come out and make a judgement that basically says we are guilty. I say F*** him.

There are so many problems with the current AFL system. The Drafting process is an absolute joke, and Kennett, well heck him!
