Fact is the Swans dont agree with you as they are still negotiating to get him, I wonder why that is. Or do you believe your Swans have nothing better to do during October.
So because we want Tippett, we can't win the flag in 2013 without him?

Fairly sure it passed that mark a while ago. Not the BigFooty record, but definitely an Adelaide Board record.is this now the Adelaide board thread length record?
Shouldn't you have sent flours?sent flowers

I can just imagine the meeting between Malthouse, Swan (CEO) and McKay (Footy Manager)....OK boys I have a cunning plan - we wait here quietly and then when Tippett goes into the PSD we swoop and he'll be ours! But the most important thing - and this is critical - is that we must have the element of surprise...no one else can know about this. So lips sealed gents! Oh alright Swanny - you can tell Mighty Chinook but that is it...Heard a whisper that Mick Malthouse and Carlton are quietly waiting in the wings for this one to play out. They've basically done nothing this trade period, but they're hoping that Kurt falls to the PSD where they will pick him up. They are staying coy about all this because obviously if they flag their interest it will encourage Sydney to put a proper deal on the table to the Crows. Will be interesting to see how that plays out for them; obviously a big KPF is what they're lacking...

So lets assume there is some BS agreement/clause whatever hanging around the place that he must be traded to his club of choice. F#ck him.... what will he do sue AFC? For what? If he ends up getting his asking price (say at Carlton) it wont be for loss of income so what would he sue for breach of contract? Dont see it happening! NO TRADE AFC unless Swans come to the party otherwise see you in court Skirt if thats what you want....... The AFL would NOT want to open that can of worms either.
I still think we've got an issue with something agreed in 2009. Nobes has had to push as hard as he can til Triggy got back.
Meeting Saturday was likely to discuss whether they 'fight' the previous agreement (which may have been as simple as not sending Kurt into PSD at end of contract i.e. we will trade you and not leave you at the mercy of the PSD) or just accpet that they can't change that and how then to get any leverage.
If true, and all my own guesses based on what I see and nothing more, will be interesting what the club chooses to do.
What makes me believe this?
- nobes backing away from anything to do with knowing what happened end of 2009. Of course he knows - but he is distancing himself as far from it as possible.
- Rowey, and others, talking about 'selling our soul'. I reckon they know something but obviously wouldn't say it in public.
- Yes AFL have knocked back any clauses on specific types of draft picks to be traded instead of Kurt, but is saying 'we won't put you in PSD' something that would be considered draft tampering? I'm guessing its grey - but not unreasonable.
- The confidence of Blucher and Ireland that they can do this trade despite how unbalanced it is. Tippett says 'I want Sydney' and we can't send him to PSD means Sydney can offer us what they want.
As much as I'd hate to see Carlton secure a quality player like Tippett, I would love to see it happen in this scenario. Nothing would please me more than to see Sydney miss out on Tippett because they are tight-arse negotiators. I pray that your mob doesn't roll over for a set of steak-knives and a potato masher in return for Tippett.
Notwthstanding that i agree with the thoughts you have expressed, I do wonder what are the ramifications if we (AFC) ignore any such agreement and do indeed send him to the PSD? (ie can we be sued for damages? if the only ramification is our "integrity", i would say "stuff it", since any reasonable person and probably most of our players would support our position given what Tippett (& Sydney) have done so far.
Thanks for your words of wisdomLet's not assume please! That's mostly why we've had 12000 posts!

I don't know who would go near this guy now. I'm surprised Sydney haven't pulled out of the race after seeing the bad press, supporters fury (from both sides) and potential detrimental effects this trade could have on their premiership winning team. I wonder if Kurt is having regrets about how he has conducted his business?
Im waiting for the press conference, Tippett in a Sydney polo seated next to Horse Longmire, and a journo asks him that exact question. The answer, I guarantee, will be the tried and tested, old standard...I wonder if Kurt is having regrets about how he has conducted his business?
Agreed - hence I wonder what the enforceability of any agreement is. I reckon that's why we've been waiting for Triggy to get back before real progress and hard decisions can be made.Notwthstanding that i agree with the thoughts you have expressed, I do wonder what are the ramifications if we (AFC) ignore any such agreement and do indeed send him to the PSD? "I just wanna play footy."
What's the record for any board?
Sydney's Jesse White is still understood to be wanted by the Crows.

You are most welcome.
Most of the crap in this thread has been over reaction to rumors and heresay. One minute we have the lynch mob to hang noble, Harper and Trigg, the next we are congratulating the club for such a tough stance. "the clause" has been done to death with most, I believe, coming to the conclusion that it doesn't exist. But every now and then someone brings it up (bigfella I'm looking at you!) and it all starts again. just wait and see what the final outcome is.
