I'd be prepared to cop it on the chin. It gives a chance for the AFC to have a clean out and never allow this sort of thing happen again. We have a full list, we need to allow the players to come back (-minus Tippett watching from the sidelines) and put this behind them and play 2013.

Depends on the island and the level of accomodation. If you go 5 star then you can spend the whole day on BigFooty, if you want a genuine experience (particularly if you like it "hot") then you will have to go cold turkey on the internet.
Did AAMI safe driver rewards take you there?

You're confusing two points - the breach of the AFL rules for which there will almost certainly be penalties...and the potential breach (by Adelaide) of the infamous 'side letter' agreement.

I am *not* talking about the AFL penalties.

I am suggesting that Tippett may have a case in law for the fact that Adelaide breached their contractual obligation to trade him to his club of choice. If (and it's still a big if) that was proven to be the case in a court of law then we would certainly face damages. The damages most likely being lost earnings by $Kirt (he'll probably now end up on a lower income).

Not if Kurt is complicit in the arrangement that sees him delisted and unable to earn his income.

‎1116 SEN has reported that Adelaide will cop a $800,000 fine, deregister Kurt Tippett AND strip Adelaide of their first round draft pick if found guilty of trade tampering.

just pulled that off one of my facebook afl feeds
not so bad. its not like we're a poor club (#port #bulldogs) and losing pick 20 isnt exactly a kick in the balls either. worth it to see Tippett cry.

We say take it and run but it's utter Bull***t because GWS can illegally court players and have the blind eye happen but we do something of similar magnitude in my opinion and we get done for all this?? NO WAY!!!

GWS were tampering with Phil Davi$ as it led to him moving there when still under contract...

Still waiting for an apology Jenny. Who do you think is closest to the pin ATM?

Also haven't heard from Bicks for the last 200 pages. You claim that I owe you a bottle of Rockford Basket Press Shiraz. Now as I remember it, when I offered to bet you the said bottle you ran away like a little school boy who had pissed his pants. If my memory was incorrect (and Kurt doesn't end up at Gold Coast for a mid to late first round draft pick) then I am happy to send the the bottle providing you bump your response to the offer of the bet.

Still letting that fertile imagination of yours run riot champ???

I don't know who exactly you had your " bet" with champ but it most certainly wasn't with me!!!
Seems your imagination is way better than your memory champ!!

I'll accept your apology however!!

And while we're talking about little schoolboys that pissed their pants and ran away...a very good description of your very own actions when your "perceptions" were blown out of the water when Kurtley announced Sydney as his preferred team not the GCS!!

Vanauatu ...Pffffttt!!!

Why enter into such an agreement in the first place? When we signed the contract/entered into the agreement back in 2009 Tippett had just enjoyed a career season. How could we possibly have thought a trade well below market value wouldn't be heavily scrutinized by all and sundry?

You would have been the only person on the planet that would have accepted Tippet being traded 3 years ago.

he bloke has never given any indication of changing his tune and from all accounts has made it clear he didn't enjoy Adelaide from the moment he arrived. Why would the club think they could change this by the time his next contract rolled around? We don't exactly have a great track record with retaining guys who are 'homesick'.

I think you are using hindsight as evidence here. It was 2009.

How can this end well for us? Best case scenario in all of this is a financial hit to our club. Worst case scenario is much worse. Even if it falls somewhere between the two extremes how is that a good result?

Never claimed this had a happy ending.

So what is stopping us from being proactive and trading pick 20 for someone decent?

Since we'll now likely be pushed to the third round in the draft let's use pick 20 to try and grab us a Broughton who would be the best player in the entire league to replace Dogga or someone of similar quality.

No way would they let that happen.

I can see the overwhelming majority of people being sympathetic towards the crows over this.
Yes it was a stupid deal, but we didn't stuff anyone around other than ourselves. KT is still a douche, and I hope his manager loses his licence over this tippettgate.

- Tarrant saying he'd retire if anyone other than Collingwood picked him up
- Davis being approached whilst still under contract with us
- Buckley telling Brisbane he'd only play for them if they transferred him to Collingwood after the first year
- Scully's dad

all had no penalties?

Get ready to be made an example of.

It's non-systemic, handicaps us, I wouldn't be surprised if for a laugh we got nothing for Kurt but a suspended fine, and Kurt went to the PSD. Poetic justice some might say.

Whereas, I reckon Blucher is cooked now, and Trigg is looking for two envelopes.

'Illegal' agreements/contracts aren't enforceable though?

Why would Tippett agree to take his salary down from $700k to say $300-$400k in 2012 when he knew he could possibly go where he wanted at the end of 2012 for more?

who cares. the fact remains that brisbane, with the fevola saga ending and some top end talent retiring over the next couple of years, could easily have back-ended a contract where kurt was paid near his $4m over 4 years. if we had a chance to avoid this debacle then we should have jumped at it. even if we ponied up $200-$300k for 2012.
