Can someone post the members email for me or PM it? Didn't seem to receive it...

Wednesday November 14, 2012

We want to tell you, as a Crows’ member, sponsor or supporter, about the most recent developments in the AFL’s investigation into our Club’s contract arrangements with Kurt Tippett.

As you probably are aware, the AFL has laid various charges arising from its investigation. These involve the Club, our CEO Steven Trigg, our General Manager of Football Operations, Phil Harper, former General Manager of Football Operations, John Reid, and Kurt Tippett.

We will explain everything to you as soon as we can. We appear before the AFL Commission on Monday next week to respond to the charges. Out of respect for the AFL process, we are unable to provide comment on these issues until that process is complete.

We can say that we do not accept everything that has been reported in the media.

Throughout the past three years and the recent trading period, it was always the Club’s intention to comply fully with all AFL rules on the draft and player payments.

We look forward to the hearing next Monday and then being able explain directly to you and all our members, sponsors and supporters exactly what happened, why it happened and how it happened.

We thank you for your patience and support. We really appreciate it.

Rob Chapman Steven Trigg
Chairman CEO

of course trigg would say that. theres no way back from this other than to deny deny deny

that's not correct, the investigation is over. but anyway, we'll find out soon enough the final details
true, the investigation is over and the commission is looking for answers

As I said, I've been audited every 6 months for my entire career, quite often I have been picked up on things - some serious.

however providing an explanation or supporting information clears my position.

In your scenario, I'm guilty regardless.

Just out of curiosity what do you do?

If the rumours are proven false, I really want to see the Crows sue the Age for defamation. Has anyone been so convicted and accused in the media, without a shred of actually proof? Lindy Chamberlain was the last I can think of. Thats the most annoying part of this, that the club has been absolutely f@cked in the media. What happened to innocent till proven guilty. It feels dirty to be a Crows fan almost.
BTW I still maintain this will end up a lot better for us than many appear to think. Fine and maybe a couple of picks this year. Just hate seeing the club murdered in the media like we are. It sucks balls.

Was interested by dumb and dumber on AA suggesting that the AFL are the one's leaking all of this info to Caro and her cronies. Vlad care to respond to that?

We have not been found guilty of anything. We have been charged and we are being given an opportunity to resoond to those charges. The concept of due process is pretty basic.

Not entirely true in this case.

Here, there is a guilty ruling in place, and the club has the opportunity to present evidence that can mitigate the guilt or prove innocence.

There's been a bit of coverage in the media about the dubiousness of this process.

Agreed, the double and triple standards of the AFL are astounding, one thing we do know the leaks aint coming from the crows, that only leaves Tippetts and AFL. Caro said they never go with one source (bullsh##) so if that IS the case then we know where the leaks are coming from. AFL and the Tippett camp.

Oh dear.

The problem now is that it could turn out that Quayle had this story completely wrong, and it wouldn't matter. The mud would still stick because we've eroded our good name away with the Tippett deal. People no longer give the Crows the benefit of the doubt because we simply don't deserve it anymore.

If there is some kind of breach for van Berlo I can't imagine it was deliberately done. It would have been completely unnecessary, almost ridiculously so.

I hope that all of this turns out to be a bit of overzealous reporting, but at this point I can't say I'm very confident. The AFC would want to have one hell of a showing on monday.
