Who gives a stuff about a bear being on the jumper? They only last about 10 years. How about a gorilla? Fitzroy were The Gorillas for nearly twice as long as we were the Bears.
Maybe Hawthorn should have a touch off Maybloom on their jumper.
Oh la la.

You are offensive. Have you forgotten a lot of the current fans and members are former Bears supporters? We have every right to look for some representation just as the former Fitzroy supporters do. To answer your question, I give a stuff and so do many others.

Angus got absolutely slaughtered on mine...literally slaughtered, and so too his other puppets on the board, not to mention Holmes too.

Bahaha, just finished mine and lets just say for the first time in my life I filled out the "Other comments" section of a survey. He will not be in any doubt what my thoughts are.

What did Bears fans lose in the merger? I still haven't had this explained to me with anything other than fallacious logic. It's still the same club and it's heritage is what is recognised more than anything in the record books.

I didn't attach myself to an AFL club until 99 and thus I can't say I was ever a "Bears" fan, but I wasn't a Fitzroy fan either so I would like to think I hold a position of objectivity.

The way Fitzroy was treated by the AFL means a special effort is required to keep a connection to their past from the current institution which bares little resemblance to the one that came before for them.

Cries of 'what about us' from Bears fans just clouds the issue in a disingenuous way.

With all due respect, Bears fans only gained from the merger imo.

This Bears fan has no complaints.

The team stayed here in my city. Everything else is secondary.

Love that Fitzroy Lion and loved the adding of blue to the maroon and gold.

Oh and Jonathan Brown goes alright too.

I don't think anyone would argue they copped the rough end of the stick.. but their football club was changed in a quite significant way (obviously it pales in comparison to how Fitzroy 'changed', but... that doesn't mean it doesn't matter!)

As a former Fitzroy supporter (very young at the time, but a Fitzroy supporter nonetheless), I'd like to see both the Lions and the Bears heritage honoured every now and then. I'd also like to see the Brisbane Lions heritage honoured, by us not wearing a bastardised version of a jumper we made history in. :)

I've always thought the easiest way to keep the vast majority happy would be to wear our classic jumper 21 rounds per year, and alternate the other 1 round between Fitzroy and the Bears heritage strips, each year. Wouldn't mind adding a heritage Bears strip to my collection!

I think this would ensure pretty strong sales of the heritage strips each time they come around, too..

What Bears representation do you want?

Simply looking for respect and recognition of the Bears history as well. The post I responded to said: "Who gives a stuff about a bear being on the jumper? They only last about 10 years." Completely disrespectful to the Bears history and former Bears supporters.

I looks like I'm not totally alone on the anit-Bears thing.

Ok, of course I do give a stuff at the Bears, but I don't want/need any representation on the jumper.
Why don't we have a Gorilla, too? After all, Fitzroy were The Gorillas for nearly twice as long as we were the Bears. Do you want a cutesy little teddy bear on the lapel? No thanks. It's silly. Jumpers with animal monikers are childish. It's like a kids' little-league jumper. While I'm at it, I think it's silly having a lion on there, too. No other great traditional tops have daggy pictures of their moniker.

Essendon don't have a picture of cute toy airplane on their top? :p Perhaps the Hawks should have a touch of Maybloom on their jumper. Oooo la la. Nup, the Bears are gone.
I love the old Fitzroy emblem, I think because it looks more 'serious' -- I'm not sure
