Words on a forum may not convey the message appropriately, but I am absolutely so grateful for the work TLR has done to give members a voice on matters which concern the club we love. It is a credit to TLR that they've been able to achieve such feats in a respectful and fair manner.

The key to getting results, I feel.

Fantastic stuff.

I am quite prepared to put up with the current 'thing' for another year when members at least get a say and we might get it back in a year's time. If it can be put to the AFL and any contracts to be changed sooner, it will be icing on the cake. One word sums up the Guernsey and the efforts of our comrades here.
Pride.

I'm not an emotional man but I will have moist eyes when the boys run out in the classic jumper again.

The win we had against Essendon this year was probably the first ever time I cried after a game.

I never cheered so hard in a game.

This is a great result, just shows what people power can do. Our traditional jersey was close to the best looking jersey in the league yet we changed it. I can't wait to buy one!

I will wait to celebrate when the resolution has been passed, the AFL don't block it and the Lions finally run out in it.

The situation is just so unpredictable at the moment that the AFL stepping in and taking over the Club is unfortunately not as inconceivable as it once was. If that happens, they could easily ignore the jumper issue.

Don't want to put a dampner on the incredible achievement of TLR and many passionate individuals to get things this far, but I am not celebrating until its over.

I just saw an article on the Lions website "Get your retro guernsey now" I was full prepared to LOL at them already selling the Paddlepop as a retro jumper.

However they are now selling Bears and Fitzroy old style jumpers at the Lions website. Is that linked to anything anyone is aware of (besides the history of our Club)?

It seems strange as they have never done this before if we are not wearing the jumpers during the season ahead.

So excited, but at the same nervous, don't know what I would do if this vote doesn't get up.

Wow... that's a lot of money.

Better bet would be to go here for your Fitzroy jumper ($110/$105 vs $175/$160):

Would prefer to hand over my hard-earned to the FFC for a Fitzroy jumper. :thumbsu:

The Fitzroy Shop will send jumpers to anywhere in Australia. They are the genuine article from the genuine club and have no sponsorship logos. All proceeds from the Fitzroy Shop go directly to the Fitzroy Football Club.

Particularly pleased for those who upgraded their memberships so that they could have a say at any EGM. Not only do they get that, but now they get a say on the jumper. Win/win.

Not a slight on existing voting members (like me) btw, just think it's great that those that took a gamble on getting heard, before the 30 August cut off, get a return on their investment.

My son is getting a Lions jersey for his birthday, later this month. Hopefully it will be the last of the Paddlepop Lions, and the way he is growing he'll only wear it for a couple of years.

Not so worried about this LOTR. They're the old woollen ones, and every kid should experience the itchy neck like we used to. The fact that they are the old wool style means I don't feel threatened by it.

Feel the same way. Full marks to TLR for getting us here. But I'm keeping a lid on emotions until the final decision is made.

Always a Lion just posted a copy of this email he received from Dr Pinkmeister in the Lions Board Spill thread. The email is a sly shambles of an attempt to pluck the heart strings of Vic members in order to elicit proxy votes. There's one line in particular, about the reason for the guernsey vote, that seems particularly diabolical. Thought it was worth a re-post in this thread...

Just received via email:

Dear .....,

[...]

I will be there. And I will be voting to restore the Lions' Pride in our Club Guernsey, with our Restore the Lions' Pride group successfully asking the Board to put it on the EGM agenda.

[...]

Dr Henry Pinskier
WHICH group exactly did you say was responsible for the inclusion of the guernsey issue on the EGM agenda, Henry?
