Must admit it is bit lower than I was expecting. I thought a total of 85% was going to come in, really nervous about the vote now.

I Am not so worried.

It was a yes/no question.

It wasn't a yes/no/indifferent.

I feel those that would want change would want yes. Those who don't want change would vote no. And those who felt indifferent would likely also vote no, rather than yes.

So put it this way. 71% likely yes. But less than 29% likely no.

The question was framed in a way that was as kind as possible to the "no" case. Something along the lines of "Should the Lions current onfield guernsey be changed?" (I can't remember the question exactly, but it was extremely simple with no introductory explanation / context).

To anyone who hadn't followed what had prompted that question it could be seen as given the Club carte blanche to make any changes they want to our guernseys if you said yes. If the question had instead been "Should the Lions current onfield guernseys be replaced with the same (or very similar) guernseys to those the Lions wore in 2001?" the result would have been 90%+ in favour.

Question did not really ask us what we wanted it changed to though.
Was very ambiguous. Did not ask if we wanted the old jumper back.just if we wanted it changed.
I didn't mind that for the purpose of the survey though. It was just to gauge feeling on the matter.
My concern is the wording for the EGM motion. Do we know that yet? If the resolution is just "To allow a change to the Guernsey", we might see the lads running around in pink for 2015.

I want to see ads for a fire sale of paddle pop jumpers in the paper from next week. I want to see the victorious Lion on jumpers by round 1, 2014. The mandate for change has been established, and it would be impossible to argue for anything other than the Lion of old. The only proviso to this is if the members want to go the full monty and use the FFC logo in Melbourne. (I'm a life long Roy boy, but this is not high on my list personally, i'm more than happy with the Lion jumper only home and away.)

Voting on the jumper at a December AGM doesn't leave a lot of lead time to get merchandise in for 2014. Pretty much guarantees we will be in the Paddlepop in 2014 either way.
Yep, thought this would always be the case. "We will listen, but we're not going to rush into any change". Way too much to be done, affecting too many deals/contracts/organisations, even if voted on at the EGM.

I'm not actually sure that is the case, I think there is a massive amount of political pressure to get this done asap, think the new board would be very, very keen to show the members they are listening to them and that they can deliver.

Hopefully. Maybe they know which way the wind is blowing and have an order placed with KooGa ready to run off the production line the second the vote gets up.

With all the political activity I haven't expressed my disappointment at the fact that the club has made this at the very least a two part process.

The current jumper was brought in by stealth. None of us had a say in it. We have protested about it for the last four years, only to be told that the powers and know better jumper on the issue. Now that we have been consulted via the member survey , and the club knows the overwhelming majority want our traditional jumper back, it becomes an EGM and AGM motion, when clearly it does not need to be one. An overwhelming majority has spoken, now I suspect we need to achieve at least 75% to achieve change. What a farce.

Two wrongs don't necessarily make a right.

I have no issue with this being done properly via the AGM (now that the EGM is off the table).

Nah I think we're getting the Lion back. Lethal was pretty unequivocal about that the other day on the radio. He basically said it is obvious what the punters want and that the club should just go ahead and change it back, and in his opinion it didn't even need to go to a vote.

:thumbsu: Hope that's the way it'll go.

So good to have Lethal back. The voice of reason, keeping it simple and telling it like it is.

He/they also thought that Life members had full member rights and could just be voted on to the board.;)

Personally, I would be happy if they just changed it back without further consultation or ado. However, the processes are in place for our and the club's protection. There are also some who's bigger issue is that the last change occurred with a stroke of a pen and show of 5 or 6 hands. Ultimately, the 'right' thing to do would be to vote for change, then offer a number of designs for a majority vote, possibly with a preferential system.
But yeah, I'd be happy if they changed it tomorrow.

They could change it now but call for a vote at the AGM that it be enshrined in the Constitution as the jumper logo for the Brisbane Lions.

Interestingly, if the 71% from the survey holds true at the AGM vote, that change to the Constitution would fail to get up given 75% is required to support a change to the Constitution.

I know people would complain and abuse the board if its not done for the 2014 season. But with such a short turn-around and the possible extra cost of doing it all for 2014 depending on current arrangements with the paddlepop - I for one wouldn't be upset if it stuck around for another season. Knowing it would change in 2015 (although I'm sure Browny wants it back for 2014).

The members survey is already a significant improvement on the consultation process for the last change...

I thought we were in Paddle Pop no matter what, think would have had to had our uniform for 2014 approved by the AFL before the Potential EGM.

If they could change the jumper in Novemebr, I would have to think they could change it in December, just need to advise Kooga to hold off on the printing press.

For those arguing Christmas sales, whether you like the jumper or not you are not going to shell out $100+ on a brand new jumper when the odds are it will be scrapped the end of the year.

In fact I think with the jumper being in the air like this we are going to do a lot of damage to our merchandise sales over the next 12 months, Johnson in trying to work on the change process has actually done a lot of damage, we would have been better of financially holding off the vote until April next year. Now if the vote goes the way the survey went, we will be running around in a defunct jumper for 12 months with no jumper sales.
