Having looked at it again there are undeniable similarities to Dangerfield-Vlastuin incident in the Grand Final.

Dangerfield left the elbow cocked after batting the ball away. Greene's action was later and more instinctive.

They are completely different. That incident was a ball in dispute, this was a fend-off.
Of course they’re different, but in both the player first to the ball reacts instinctively and collects the later player high. I said at the time I think PD could have done more to not impact NV the way he did, and in this case TG probably could have too, but in both cases I think the benefit of the doubt goes to the player first to the ball.

If you watch the video Dangerfield loses his footing and slides across the turf like it's an ice rink in the split second just before the tackle. He's unlucky that Greene braces for impact and what normally would've been contact to the chest (if Danger hadn't slipped) becomes a flush hit to the larynx

I reckon the slipping defence is a pretty sound one but the AFL love looking at the outcome. I reckon he's done on being reckless.

True although Greene does raise the elbow which could get him in trouble. If he kept the elbow tucked he's fine, but he lifts it up to get him high.

Dangerfield slipped, Greene will get off

That’s my view as well, hard to predict how high the fend actually would have been, but I think you could argue it was accidentally high due to Danger slipping

Nobody has as much want to see Toby Greene fail as much as a Bulldogs fan but I can’t really imagine he’s got much to worry about when you factor in precedents set with Fritsch and the fact that Dangerfield slipped.

I don’t mind if I’m wrong but I’m looking at it logically.

have to agree, fend off gone wrong, but it's the AFL....:cautiousv1:
He chose to fend off. He chose to use a forearm. He got him high and caused injury. Has to be a suspension. Fending off with a forearm is more aggressive and dangerous than an open palm push to the chest. There's less margin for error and more potential to cause injury. Throat/larynx injuries are pretty serious. Ed Curnow had a lengthy stint on the sidelines from his. I haven't compared any old and new interviews, but I reckon his voice has permanently changed from it too.

GWS have the Blues in 2 weeks, so my prediction is 2 weeks down to 1 with an early plea, and Toby to torch Carlton with 5 goals in round 23.
Danger could potentially be done for the year too, if his injury is similar to Curnow's.

Was suspended initially then got off on appeal.

Fritsch cited a previous incident at his appeal. They can keep citing incidents that are slightly less serious, but similar enough to be accepted as evidence, until they build up to something totally wrong being defensible.

Whoever allowed "precedent" in the door at the AFL has brought the whole shithouse crashing down.

When it happened I thought he got him right on the button and might have broken Danger's jaw where his bottom teeth are.

Toby a bit unlucky, we'll see I suppose.

On a positive note, yet another thread the Tiger supporters rush in to try and make it about Richmond. Sucked in, GWS and Geelong conspire to keep Richmond out of finals. Job well done.

On watching the footage again, it looks to me like Danger is lower in stance because he's changing direction. He doesn't appear to get any lower during the slip.
