Is anyone looking for points next year? Reports suggest Hawthorn's F2 could unlock the trade but we should still be asking for an F1. That F1 doesn't necessarily have to come from Hawthorn though.

HAW
OUT: 14, F2
IN: Barrass

WCE
OUT: Barrass, F2
IN: 14, F1

Third club
OUT: F1
IN: F2 (WCE), F2 (HAW)

Using next year's points system, WCE finishing 17th and Hawthorn finishing 6th values the future seconds at pick 14 combined. If there is a club looking to buy points next year, maybe there's an opportunity to help someone out.

I expect the final outcome of Baker & Barrass won't be a straight swap but more likely a net outcome of;
Out - Barrass
In - Baker, 2 x 2nd rounders
As long as those 2nd rounders are in the early to mid part of the 2nd round(25-35 since the 1st round is so long), I could see this

Early teens, so like 13, 14 or 15?

Late firsts, so like 16, 17 or 18 if there's no comp picks?
Port want Carltons pick 12(14) and GCs pick 13(15) to be part of it, we are looking at pick 14(17) + your f1 in a far more compromised draft(likely pick 15-20) and we would even throw an early 2nd rounder(23-27) back your way

I know he is contracted, but if he were to nominate for this year’s draft, where might he go? 25 - 35?

We might get 60 - 80 games out of him. If anything, our pick 14 is overs, but about right given he is contracted.
A club in the premiership window would pay far more than pick 25 for him

We'd be interested in points next season, 3 boys next season, and so would GC.

Hawthorn can't offer that though. The best I can come up with is Hawthorn trading their F2 to Gold Coast for 41, giving us 14 + 33 while allowing them to maintain a presence in that part of the draft. I'm hoping we can do better than that though.

Completely unfair. Barrass is taller, younger and stronger. Hawks fans think a 188cm guy can play on likes of McKay and king twins.
Hawks fans are also missing the point that not only would they get a bona fide KPD, they'd also be able to play Sicily to his strengths. Two birds, one stone.

Thats not really our problem.
They can find them, they have players and future pick they can manoeuvre to make it work

For sure. It's why I hope the club asks for two firsts and sticks to it.

Meanwhile, pick 6 is not enough for Rioli...

Especially given the new points system next year, it's not worth the risk trading out your future first a year early in case the team has a down year like Collingwood did, for second round picks that aren't worth as much anymore.. The third team doesn't need to be involved, so they need to be offered well overs.

It’s also not our problem that West Coast can’t satisfy Barrass and make him happy.
Also not our problem that we went on a tear and dominated the last half of the year.
Ild put good money on that they agreed half way through the year that they agreed to this years first rounder, but now WCE have reneged and trying to change the offer

You should keep Barrass, and dodgy back becomes "your" problem
His back clearly doesnt affect his ability to play, as everybody wouldve seen this year.

It is your problem, you had pick 8-10 earlier in the year, now its pick 14. Thats a significant difference

That is too heavy a price for a bloke likely to play less than 60 games at hawthorn.

Hawthorn's best play would be to head to the draft and leave WC to deal with the fallout.

He has a contract, happy or not. He can’t do anything about it.

Yes, your first rounder when it was pick 8. And now hawthorn are trying to come up with creative interpretation of that. Pony up weaker bird.
