I'm in shock. A level headed Eagle I think a lot of angst from West Coast towards Hawthorn are the demands Richmond are putting on the Baker deal. If they (Richmond) would take a pick in the 20's like it should be then this thread would be way more amicable.

Trade period is filled with illogical trades. Last year Suns traded pick 4 all the way to turn it in 5-6 first rounders for 4 academy picks & the extra 1st rounders they hold this yr

We don't know what is the nature of the other trade offers for pick 13, maybe some of them want Suns to throw in some other picks to boot.

Maybe Suns value Haws F1 over Blues F1, so our F1+F2 for 13 is seen as best offer once they see the details of other trades. At bare minimum it forces others to up their trade costs.

Now question is will Eagles feel entitled to 13 if we do end up getting it? Maybe we will trade 13 for the Sydney 19+22 offer.

I'm guessing Hawks knew we need(ed) pick 14 for Baker and took advantage of it by lowballing us.

If we do have to downgrade pick 3 to satisfy Richmond whoever we deal with will lowball us too for the same reason.

If we want to deal with Carlton, for example, they will 100% demand a second rounder to go with pick 3.

Add in freo saying yesterday they have picks on the table for Baker. Clearly an ploy for us to pay more for him.

Been a pretty shitty trade period so far.

Just offer Baker a massive deal and take him to the PSD.

If Richmond take him there, then so be it.

But you're not in a position to overpay with draft selections on mid career players. You're just beginning a rebuild.

Tbh I don't know, neither do you. I'm not sure where our list manager said a 1st and a 2nd ad youve referred to, all I've read is WC want 2 1sts.

Whether they'd settle for less in reality I guess we'll find out, but given he's a contracted player Hawthorn have to satisfy WC. They can play as many games or do as many pick swaps as they like, they still need to satisfy WC at the end of the day.

The Baker trade is a completely separate transaction, all the "WC desperately need pick 14" talk was always rubbish

We also said last year that we want "a lot" for pick 1. Clubs offered a lot and it didnt get it over the line.

List managers say a lot of words while revealing very little, just because they dont specify which picks in particular to the media doesnt mean they dont have specific picks in mind
