An extra first wouldn't be bending you over though. I've suggested sending our F2 back. Other WCE fans have suggested sending our F3 back. Both represent better points value than receiving a second rounder from you with nothing going back short of Hawthorn capitulating next year.
A big part of him wanting Hawthorn is:All of that's irrelevant.
They can simply say to Tom that they tried to facilitate a trade with Hawthorn but they refused to come to the party.
We know you want to move to Melbourne, here's X club who are prepared to offer you the same contract Hawthorn will and have offered a suitable trade deal.
Tom's requested Hawthorn because they've offered what he's happy with, pure and simple.
If another club comes with a matching offer and a better trade deal, he's the type of person who'd readily accept it.
We'll send you your pick of Witherden, Jones or Rotham. No worries
Come on nowA big part of him wanting Hawthorn is:
1. it's in melbourne
2. relation ship with mitchell and hickmont
3. flags
4. our colours are awesome.
5. contract legnth 4+ trigger for 5
6. money
No other club can offer the same.
He's already declared to west coast, it's gone public so it'll happen.
The power a club gets by him being contracted is only really valuable if they really want to keep them like Sydney with Papley. It's been reported West Coast essentially has made the call that Barrass is to be traded for draft picks.
So either they trade him where he wants to go, or keep him as his value decreases over the years and they can't use the cap space to attract other plays or sign Harley reid, they can't give game time to his replacement. They improve and then he's finished before you are contending and you have a massive hole to fill.
Thats not very "sweet"We'll send you your pick of Witherden, Jones or Rotham.
Hell, we'll send all 3, just to 'sweeten' the deal.
No other club can offer the same, eh? They can offer all of those things, other than Mitchell and Hickmott.A big part of him wanting Hawthorn is:

It isn't a matter of not valuing him, but with several rebuilding years ahead he is likely not going to see team success with us. Its a mutually beneficial move. You've failed at moulding DGB into being an AFL standard player so why would we have any interest. This is a very high probability. The cap space argument makes sense. If you valued Tom you’d have renegotiated his $700k pa contract. This way we get a ready-made KPD, and you get a first rounder and DGB, whom you can try and mould into a decent defender in the next 4-5 years whilst paying him $250k a year. Win-win
Remember the jostling in this thread is regarding the +Change. No one is arguing over the meat. No bending of barrels will be needed, it will probably end up being pretty civil. No other club can offer the same, eh? They can offer all of those things, other than Mitchell and Hickmott.
WCE aren't going to be bent over a barrel for a player with 3 years remaining on his contract.
**** that. Winner of the trade gets Sam Mitchell.Remember the jostling in this thread is regarding the +Change. No one is arguing over the meat. No bending of barrels will be needed, it will probably end up being pretty civil.
Sammy on a pole ladder match**** that. Winner of the trade gets Sam Mitchell.
Don't have to trade him either. If he wants out, his preference is a consideration but not a guarantee. No, that's the club he wants to go to. This isn't the NBA and it comes up with big talking fans every year.
YOU CANNOT TRADE A PLAYER WITHOUT CONSENT. So either you hold them to contract or trade them where they want. West Coast cannot trade Barrass to StKilda no matter what they offer in a trade.
Brad Sewell nearly got trade to Melbourne for Ryan Ferguson. Sewell, Melbourne and Hawthorn all agreed, but Ferguson knocked it back and we were stuff with Sewell for a few premierships and a BnF.
Because he would walk into your best team.It says a lot that nearly every Hawthorn supporter here is trying to include DGB. None of you rate him, so why would he have any value to us.
In what position?Because he would walk into your best team, I hope this helps.
Tell me, what’s your position at the Eagles? You seem to know the inner sanctums there, or are you still just guessing? No, it isn't, unless it's for free. Why would WCE include a bloke that's getting delisted in a trade for an elite KPD?
I bet you thought Brockman was a possibility when trying to trade for Reid last year.
Our list manager laughed in your face.
Maybe, however if West Coast are after a young Tall defender they could very cheaply do better than DGB who is behind frost, blank, weddle, scrimshaw, sicily, scaif and serong.Because he would walk into your best team, I hope this helps.
Replacing who?Because he would walk into your best team.
I hope this helps.
Yeah would be very surprised if he's on any other teams radar let alone part of any player deal.Maybe, however if West Coast are after a young Tall defender they could very cheaply do better than DGB who is behind frost, blank, weddle, scrimshaw, sicily, scaif and serong.
Blank, Scaif and Serong won't get a game at Hawthorn next year if Battle AND Barrass come and stay fit.
There would be similar at other clubs.
They could also look at WAFL and VFL and just nab the best tall defender from there.
I can see this becoming a 3 way between Eagles/Richmond/Hawks if Baker selects eagles
Hawks
Out: #14 +F1
In:Barrass + #29
Tigers
Out : Baker + #29
In: F1 (hawks) + F3 (eagles)
Eagles
Out : Barrass + F3
In: #14+ Baker
Anyone with 2 brain cells would know we don't need someone like DGB, even if he were half-competent.Tell me, what’s your position at the Eagles? You seem to know the inner sanctums there, or are you still just guessing?
By the way there’s every chance DGB will get another contract from us apparently.
cancel that F3 and its closeI can see this becoming a 3 way between Eagles/Richmond/Hawks if Baker selects eagles
