There is absolutely zero chance WC are trading Barrass in order to spend the bulk of the draft capital on Baker. The trade is probably something like Hawks 1st and F2 for Barrass and a junk pick depending on where Hawks end up this year. Baker and 40 something for the Hawks F2 and WC 2nd this year. Or to make it easier to read and assigning random numbers

F2 (Hawks), 22 -> Baker, 40
Trying to balance it out so all parties are happy is such a difficult thing. I think next year Eagles F2 thanks to draft bidding changes may actually be ending worth more than 21 this year for the mere fact any team with a player going to be bid on in the first round is going to want that pick. So in that case maybe Tigers also give 36 to the eagles.
Only pick that might be involved from the Barrass deal for Baker is the 2nd rounder that will be involved.
Baker came out and did say a late 2nd round pick wont do it.
Well an early 2nd isnt a late 2nd. Throw in a Culley as steak o ives and rhe deal is done,

Yes but the context matters. Lake was added to one of the best teams of all time and Cameron being younger and better matters.
Making the wrong moves and cost a premiership just as much as making the right ones can win you one

I assume most West Coast supporters aren't like this flogIs it really fun for you being reminded about a pick 6 selection a couple of years totally bombing out? If that had worked out then the Hawks wouldn't need Tom Barrass.
It's more factual than 90% of the other views being floated.
Why don't the Eagles repay the loyalty that Barrass has shown them and honour their handshake deal? Seems awfully callous and for what, there should be plenty of money to go around even if they need to throw some at Tim English.

Why don't Freo go sign Fyfe for another 5 years. Pretty callous not to give him that contract aswell if we are going down that path.
Not a charity mate. New management is good because it removes all emotion from the decisions.
Sucks for Barrass but he will get paid elsewhere if other clubs can offer a suitable trade.
He really messed up by going against his managers advice and signing that last contract with a handshake deal

Loyalty schmoyalty. I doubt Barrass or any player would agree to not be paid if they missed a year through injury.
Besides, WC increased his money and seemingly it's not enough. Time to move on

they did honour it. they did offer him a raise. he rejected it.
good old "plenty of money to go around". the cliched argument. unfortunately no draft picks to go around. Why don't free give some to west coast, they have plenty of picks this year eh?
I can kind of see why Barrass isn't feeling valued at West Coast.

3 years left on his contract on decent coin with a back injury that could end it at any time according to him.
I have no doubt if he leaves it'll be on great terms, got a premiership and job security. Now can go to a club that may challenge again on a longer, higher paid deal or stick around being paid well.

Makes me wonder if that handshake was from before he hurt his back.

Believe talks on an improved deal happened last year when he was linked away.
Regardless this is the exact type of player the club needs to trade, must trade even. Will play no part in any future finals run at the club, can generate some more top 30 draft picks. It's the very best for both parties.
