I'd rather their F2 on its own as the sweetener than a swap of their F1 for our F2 tbh

A big part of him wanting Hawthorn is:
1. it's in melbourne
2. relation ship with mitchell and hickmont
3. flags
4. our colours are awesome.
5. contract legnth 4+ trigger for 5
6. money

No other club can offer the same.

He's already declared to west coast, it's gone public so it'll happen.

The power a club gets by him being contracted is only really valuable if they really want to keep them like Sydney with Papley. It's been reported West Coast essentially has made the call that Barrass is to be traded for draft picks.

So either they trade him where he wants to go, or keep him as his value decreases over the years and they can't use the cap space to attract other plays or sign Harley reid, they can't give game time to his replacement. They improve and then he's finished before you are contending and you have a massive hole to fill.

No other club can offer the same, eh? They can offer all of those things, other than Mitchell and Hickmott.

WCE aren't going to be bent over a barrel for a player with 3 years remaining on his contract.

It isn't a matter of not valuing him, but with several rebuilding years ahead he is likely not going to see team success with us. Its a mutually beneficial move. You've failed at moulding DGB into being an AFL standard player so why would we have any interest.

Remember the jostling in this thread is regarding the +Change. No one is arguing over the meat. No bending of barrels will be needed, it will probably end up being pretty civil.

YOU CANNOT TRADE A PLAYER WITHOUT CONSENT. So either you hold them to contract or trade them where they want. West Coast cannot trade Barrass to StKilda no matter what they offer in a trade.

Brad Sewell nearly got trade to Melbourne for Ryan Ferguson. Sewell, Melbourne and Hawthorn all agreed, but Ferguson knocked it back and we were stuff with Sewell for a few premierships and a BnF.

Don't have to trade him either. If he wants out, his preference is a consideration but not a guarantee.

Maybe, however if West Coast are after a young Tall defender they could very cheaply do better than DGB who is behind frost, blank, weddle, scrimshaw, sicily, scaif and serong.

Blank, Scaif and Serong won't get a game at Hawthorn next year if Battle AND Barrass come and stay fit.

There would be similar at other clubs.

They could also look at WAFL and VFL and just nab the best tall defender from there.

Yeah would be very surprised if he's on any other teams radar let alone part of any player deal.

Anyone with 2 brain cells would know we don't need someone like DGB, even if he were half-competent.

I'd say the fact he's getting offered a contract from Hawthorn(I'd true) would be a very good indication WCE have zero interest.

Exactly.

We also have 2 other blokes on our own list who are behind Gov and Edwards, who will likely play a third tall role until Gov retires

DGB is literally of zero interest.

We needs mids, not KPDs.
