Wow. What a difference a day makes. Looks like Boyd and the Giants were a shotgun marriage from the start.

Let's be honest, we would have been a laughing stock if we didn't pick him with 1 last year. We went with it, took the risk and it didn't pay off. Plenty of other picks have worked wonders for us and no doubt will produce 200 and even 300 game players in the orange and charcoal.

Depending on how tomorrow goes id say it has worked for us.

No problem from me with Boyd taking the money that has been reported in the media. Wish him well and looking forward to the Giants/Dogs games in the future. Think the AFL will definitely schedule 2 games a season from 2015 on

Just remember boys, melee fines dont go on cap room :)

you thought u had the trade won ;) we came back with a right hook

No, I thought the trade was stalled at a nil-all draw.

Pick one for pick six a year later, and 250k a year for four years to the salary of a very good player, plus the player who left being paid a Scully/Ward level of overpayment vs shown performance ... theres enough there for both sides to like.

Love the email. "Consulted leadership group and they dont want him here". Shows the untouchables are all behind us.
Haha good one. Boyd was untouchable this morning.

For the record, I don't think your kids are going to get pillaged more than any other club but let's not revise history here.

But it's good we've acted decisively to rid ourselves of someone who clearly didn't want to be here.

As for Boyd, well, good luck to him. A 19 year old on that sort of money.

The Bulldogs had better hope he doesn't turn into their version of Sam Reid. It's a huge gamble on their part.

I assume you're talking about the Sydney Sam Reid, not their previous Sam Reid who is our NEAFL captain.

I think you only get one Sam Reid in your lifetime!

We won the fight and the last quarter last time.

Wont be any different.

BIG Fella! Found you at last. We were getting worried about you over on the other board. There you were, keeping us company for days on end. Then nothing - vanished... Vamoosed as they say. Great to see your still trucking on albeit you have chosen not to hang with us anymore. Welcome back when you've recovered mate. We've got a spot open for discussions when WHE opens negs with us next year. Anyway - keep on keepin on and thanks for your positivity over the last week. Cheers mate :). <insert thumbs up image here which I'm too lazy to do>

Bloody work, interrupting things :) I'll be posting there today :)

Was quite disappointed in the initial reports of Boyd wanting to leave the Giants but to be honest GWS have won this deal. Picked up a 30+ possession player who should give great service for 3-4 years. There is slowly a more experienced base being built to support the genuine young stars.

Watching Boyd this season I wasn't overly impressed. A bit lumbering, huge turning circle and didn't appear to know how to find space on his leads.

Although it was his first season, you would still expect a more promising effort from such a hyped young player. Reiwoldt, Cloke, Brown etc all showed their class and immense promise in their first 10-20 games.

An exciting year ahead for the club and with the high draft picks a real chance to consolidate on what will be a very exciting team over the next few years.

Can't wait to get the family along to Manuka next year.

A player demanding a trade after one season & their manager making threats such as "he will leave next year anyway" is utter BS. I can see the AFL making a rule that new draftees must stay on the teams list that selected them for their first two years & cannot be traded under any circumstances. Makes sense. Also, Liam Pickering off the GWS Christmas card list this year?

Was off it last year when he ran around telling all and sundry that his greatest achievement was spending 12 months telling us nothing but lies and dealing in bad faith.

I hold honesty and fair dealing very highly. I hope he rots in the deepest pits of s#it.

You guys bent the Dogs over backwards, excellent trading.

There are still a few decent KPFs in the upcoming draft, and you landed a top flight mid and essentially downgraded only 5 spots (Boyd ex-1st).

With the midfield GWS is developing it probably won't matter if Chris Dawes is a forward - winning scores will be coming.
