Thank you rational Ian. Thank you for proving what I knew all along. Things aren't so "rational" when your pick 1 tall forward is running for the door. BAZINGA big fella and best wishes to your club on the trading floor :)

Well, he didnt get out the door, and in 12 months we're going to have an auction with 9 competing parties who have time to prepare deals.

Much better than just one, maybe two.

Only give him the black ones! They are the worst. Afterall he's a bitter rival.

What a load of piss filled ******* horse shit.

Ah it must make GWS supporters feel all warm and tingly to get this level of encouragement from a supporter of a club that follows the Dodoro trading philosophy - or should I say not trading philosophy. Whatever it takes eh. Cool.

*sigh* And this from the guy who didnt think 4 and 7 for Griffen and cap room was a good deal, because it 'strengthened a rival'.

He's been a regular on here since the start.... and a welcome contributor. You, on the other hand are not. Bugger off

No you are being mischevious now Ian, your deal helped you protect your list and stopped us getting someone like Boyd next year. Plus the concept of paying for the privilege of GWS stealing our captain.

However, if we get Boyd the above is less of an issue, and I would be happy to pay Griffen as much as we can afford to help you protect your list.

Their concern is that if they let Boyd go it will open the floodgates. It's their biggest fear and its coming a year earlier than they thought (due to them being scumbags and poaching another club's captain).

If this deal goes ahead, I would think our biggest leverage is paying Griffen as much as we can afford before his contract expires (say $1m). This helps them retain other players with the additional cap they save (by not having to pay Boyd or Griffen), and at the same time may hamstring one low placed vulture (us) next year from doing big offers.

IanW has been banging on about this for a while. And I was against it (why help them keep their list together and pay the bastards for stealing Griffen?), but if it helped us nett Boyd I would make an exception.

Understand?

Of course it did ! But the price for doing that was two top ten picks - enough to get the Dogs the KPD and the KPF they needed, and solving the problem of what to do with Griffen.

Instead, the Dogs are now in a nine-team scrum for Boyd and everyone else, still with no KPF and with a pick that will need upgrading to get either McCartin or Wright.

Carlton and St Kilda are very grateful for the sacrifice the Doggies have just made, and I suspect Collingwood will be measuring up Boyd for black and white as well.

And then theres the unsolved problem of what the heck to do with Griffen.

This situation only occurs if you don't trade Boyd. One of our posters who gets good mail reckons the trade is going to happpen FWIW I think your idea of us paying Griffen's salary is good, but only in the context of us getting Boyd. I wouldn't do it for Picks for reasons previously stated.

For us, it's the reverse - it only made sense in the context of keeping Boyd.

Paying two top ten picks for a 28 year old midfielder makes sense if you're making a run at the top four over three years - and with Patton's knee blown, that needs Boyd.

Without Patton or Boyd, then the forward line has enough question marks to not go 'Yeah. Its worth it', and you start to go 'Stuff it, get more cheap kids in and take it slower'.

So, welcome to stalemate.

Thing that s#its me about this whole "never liked Western Sydney, never settled" line is the effect/reflection (unintended or not) on the Lamberts. Craig would often tweet pictures of the boys (including Tom) round at his house, looking like they were enjoying things. Being made to feel at home.

Slap in the face for Craig and Mel - one in which they in no possible way could have deserved.

Agree, I hear you, and we've done it too death on both boards, but I tend to think there is there is more downside now for both clubs if the deal isn't done for Boyd. You might want to consider also that Peter Gordon is not silly, he negotiates massive class actions for a living. He is no list manager, his whole public strategy is about putting pressure on the GWS' main stakeholder, the AFL.

Guess we'll see.

My tip Griffen and Boyd deal will be done. We'll pay Griffen's salary and have to give up P6, you will send something back. That Jaksch deal is being held up because we want P19, I'd wager.

I swear it harder to watch a GWS match in Wagga or Canberra or Sydney if a grubby player like Griffen is running around in GWS colours killing off GWS's upside for the benefit of a railroading club like the Bulldogs!

Did you not see the statement from the club?

Boyd playing NEAFL next season. Back at training next month.

And you believe what anyone says in the trade period? You are one very trusting person...

You sound confident. Inside mail?

There's guy posting on our board reckons its 95% done, he gets pretty good mail and I'll back it in. Plus logic tells me both clubs are in untenable positions if the deal isn't done.

Mail is we are sending Griffen and P6 to you for Boyd and change. The change I imagine is the discussion. Guess we'll see

Be funny if they play Boyd at full back in the NEAFL next season just to shit him off. Although, no offence guys but your club had this coming when they did the dirty on WB.

Agreed, Craig and Mel are absolute legends, give their lives to make the kids happy...anyways the kids are generally very appreciative and not spoilt.
