Hey lads!

Just wanted to pop in, have loved watching Tommy play footy this year. Good to see him back into the middle.

Love watching Collingwood play, it's genuinely enjoyable, obviously him being there helps but it's a likeable group on and off field.

He's been superb this year, his strengths are at the forefront of why you've improved to be the genuine number 1 seed contender.

His smart clearance work, his ferocious tackling and his pressure around the ball. His cleanliness and being able to be creative by hand and opening the whole game up for your runners and class. But he's also been able to have a genuine forward impact with his rotation with Adams, he's obviously never gonna be the absolute freak of a dominant player he was before his broken leg but he's doing a dominant role.

Here's some stats for you lot!
27 disposals per game
11 kicks 16 handballs
74% DE
4.5 inside 50s
12 contested possessions
5.5 clearances
0.4 goals (0.5 goal assists & 6 score involvements)
5.5 tackles
331 metres gained

He's (as of writing this) 14th for disposals. 12th for tackles. 13th for contested possessions. 18th for clearances. 19th for centre clearances.

For someone who is playing a role where it's at the best for the team, to not only get him involved as he's a gun. But also so others can get good rotations.

If he had the same levels of CBAs as he use to, he'd be in brownlow contention. Even post broken leg.

Been a good year from him so far, it'll be enjoyable seeing him playing in finals. Hope you lot are enjoying it as much as i am!
Fantastic footballer. Exactly what we needed. I don't understand the current market where a bloke like him can be gotten so cheap, loving it though.

It's because people listen to the media, and all the media did was pot him. I'd say mainly because he was out of position. He's a very similar player to Neale. And at his best, he was better. Doing this role now, he's not as good as Neale is but Collingwood don't need him to be, so he plays a lesser role.

He really only has value to a team contending, and he can really only play 1 position... Doesn't leave many options for him, Brisbane and Melbourne both are full for the inside mid position. Perfect for us though.

Disgree. Every team with young mids benefits enormously from a bloke like Mitchell and the IP he passes on. And most lists are in a position to compete with a couple of quality additions or a bit of a tweak. Did you have Port competing at the beginning of the year?

I struggle to see how he plays out his 3-4 Year Contract as fallen out of form Very Badly in 2nd half of the Season

Maybe some of the other princesses can get the hard ball in the centre. Poor bugger has carried the team in putting his head over the ball while the other seagulls fluff around on the outside.

He’s cooked. I’m not sure if it’s a 2023 issue or a career issue, but if you’re an inside mid and your first instinct is to go to ground in the contest you’re in trouble because it means you don’t have the power through the legs to drive through gaps. If you watch the tape he went to ground consistently over the weekend and it completely nullified his ability to find players on the spread. With Naicos out even this late in the piece I’d be replacing Mitchell with Macrae.

Big call. Hope you’re wrong.

Yeah. He can't get the ball out at the moment. Gloves it cleanly. Takes the tackle. Another ball up. What's the point?

Excellent time waster if we're up by a kick with little time left on the clock. Beyond that, he's struggling big time to get anywhere.

He’s probably carrying something lower body which is making it hard for him to hold his ground at stoppage and then gain separation on loose balls. The big concern is it’s now impacting JDG because Mitchell was often hitting him with fast hands out of the congestion early season. Whereas now JDG is having to do all the heavy lifting.

Mitchell’s not on his lonesome either because I had Pendles, Moore and especially Maynard in the same category on Saturday. You change direction on Maynard in general play and you’re off to the races because he’s playing with one arm! Season’s getting long on us…

The massive corkie may have had a lot to do with it.

Moore had a shocker with ball in hand, but he was pretty good other than that.
