Markov being alright puts him above McStay
Don't think it's coincidental that our offence was kicking huge scores when McStay was playing alongside our other talls. He contributes a lot more structurally than Markov

I miss just plain old Titch :(

Frampton sorta says hi

Really jury's out on McStay but 3/4 of our new recruits (3.5 if you include Markov) have been incredible

Yeah Mitchell has been massive but for overall price and expectations have to go with Frampton has been unbelievable.

Collingwood are playing Mitchell to his strength, the distributor of the footy, which makes so much more effective

I think McStay's contributions to our structure were massive. Our aerial presence is crushed without him sadly.
We looked more dangerous ahead of the ball early in the year, but I think that's because we were owning the corridor more than what McStay was doing. Clubs have taken the corridor from us.

I think it’s harder for teams to defend the corridor when we have McStay + the two rucks
The extra two talls to what we had for a while definitely make us more effective outside the corridor, as we can compete down the line balls. I still can't work out how we won that Adelaide game - no corridor and thrashed in the air when we tried to move it down the line.

So I agree with that to an extent - I still don't think any team is going to give us the corridor to transition through though.

My point is more whether it is Johnson/McStay or one of the rucks that musses out, it's only going to make a slight difference without a clear overall gain

Definitely not just because of Tom Mitchell. The season De Goey is having is a big contributor to this. But its undeniable Tom Mitchell makes everyone around him more impactful.

I think Mitchell may not be the only reason De Goey has been superb but he is the biggest reason, he has released Jordan so much.

I think Mitchell has been fantastic this season for us probably the biggest reason we are sitting where we are,I was a bit sceptical about him but mostly because I wanted to keep Ollie but aside from Mcstay with his injury our trades last season have been very good.

McStay could still make you McHappy.

Remember when people were opposed to getting this guy on the list, despite us being the worst clearance team in the comp?
Pepperidge Farm remembers.

In regards to importance.
Mitchell, Moore, Nick.
Personally I was partying when we got Mitch. GUN

Our aerial strength has been taken away, lol. Both our KF,S having a great year and clunking lots of marks. Add Cox in the mix and that statement becomes even more ridiculous

Hey lads!

Just wanted to pop in, have loved watching Tommy play footy this year. Good to see him back into the middle.

Love watching Collingwood play, it's genuinely enjoyable, obviously him being there helps but it's a likeable group on and off field.

He's been superb this year, his strengths are at the forefront of why you've improved to be the genuine number 1 seed contender.

His smart clearance work, his ferocious tackling and his pressure around the ball. His cleanliness and being able to be creative by hand and opening the whole game up for your runners and class. But he's also been able to have a genuine forward impact with his rotation with Adams, he's obviously never gonna be the absolute freak of a dominant player he was before his broken leg but he's doing a dominant role.

Here's some stats for you lot!
27 disposals per game
11 kicks 16 handballs
74% DE
4.5 inside 50s
12 contested possessions
5.5 clearances
0.4 goals (0.5 goal assists & 6 score involvements)
5.5 tackles
331 metres gained

He's (as of writing this) 14th for disposals. 12th for tackles. 13th for contested possessions. 18th for clearances. 19th for centre clearances.

For someone who is playing a role where it's at the best for the team, to not only get him involved as he's a gun. But also so others can get good rotations.

If he had the same levels of CBAs as he use to, he'd be in brownlow contention. Even post broken leg.

Been a good year from him so far, it'll be enjoyable seeing him playing in finals. Hope you lot are enjoying it as much as i am!
