He had an awesome Granny and that's a massive credit to him.

But he looked cooked asf for most of last year as we later found out due to his pretty severe foot injury, and none of us know that he's over it.

So anyone that says he'll have a great season in 2025 with any pompous bravado is talking utter shit.
With the progress of Nick, I think he's a fringe player for us now anyway - he's one of about 6 good players to support him in the midfield. The others however use the footy better are quicker and are effective when rotating through other roles as well.

Seeing Neale dominate this year's GF further highlights how great Mitchell was in the premiership decider
Yep

Mitchell really did his homework on Neale
After the marvel game against them in late 23 Neale did a number on him which he reversed magnificently in gf23
Hopefully foots healed and he’s ready to get down and dirty again in 25

Coincidentally Neale & Mitchell have both been dealing with plantar fascia issues.

Let's hope they both make a full recovery for 2025 🤞

I reckon Mitchell in some of the close finishes last season would have been more than handy. He has the ability to extract but also to force a secondary stoppage when required.

Mitchell is the type of player you want fresh for finals. Just ease him through home and away season.

Have a look who it was that put their head and neck on the line for us in the last 30 seconds of the GF. Titch being prepared to be decapitated to draw a free pretty much ensured we won and could chip it around for 30 seconds. None of Nick, Steele etc can match Toms hardness

Great pickup in the GF year.

Next year, expect him to play a lot of VFL as a teacher to the youngsters. The modern game is all pace and he ain't got none anymore.
Brisbane’s midfield was categorically not pacy

Find it hard to put into words how much I admire and respect what Tom
Mitchell has brought to our club.

I so hope the plantar fasciitis allows him to play his best footy, his importance in and under just cannot be overstated.

No way in the world we win ‘23 without him.
Agree, amongst our best targeted recruits in the past 10 years - for what we paid for him (which is difficult to ascertain given he was part of the Henry deal), he'd be up there with Cameron as our best value recruit and for instant impact, he'd be a clear leader.

I think that's a definite possibility - mainly because I think his role at stoppage will change from what it was in 2023, we'll be trying to keep the ball drop open for Nick to flash through. His stoppage strength at the ball drop won't be used as often and the rest of his game isn't that strong any more.

I see Titch as an integral part of our fast/slow play gears. There'll be times when we want to rip the game open and play offensive fast moving footy - that's where JDG excels, equally, there'll be times when we want to stifle movement and control the game tempo - for those moments, enter stage right Titch.

I think it comes down to, if he can come back and play his best footy he will be needed, if not he will be teaching kids in the VFL.

I am also hoping to see Allen come on and make a spot for himself in the middle, (clearly his only spot at the moment).

It'll be interesting.

I'm really interested in what teams do differently when protecting a lead at the end - as teams were just getting rolled this year when they attempted slow play to wind down the clock.

I don't think Dunkley is much, if at all faster than Mitchell.

Neither are fast. But who knows how they compare? We're just guessing I suppose.

So my guess: Given Mitchell was subbed pretty consistently in recent years, I think there are bigger concerns on his ability to continue at the elite level after what has been a stellar career -- and after being integral to our premiership.

This is much more guesswork than anything about pace. Mitchell being subbed has almost always been due to his body copping it.
