This thread is terrible by the OP and he clearly has not watched Murphy much.

Murphy is a third or forth tall, NOT the first or second as he has been playing on occasions so of course he is going to get destroyed sometimes that is not his fault however and as supporters of this great team you need to understand that.

At the end of the day he has improved beyond sight this season with Croad and Gilham out of the side and with those two back we will be a better side because of this time now.

If you want to get annoyed at anyone Brown just does not seam to be playing at even half the intensity he was playing at last season and it is showing. Injury? Love the guy really want him back to his best soon.

Murphy has been good all year, playing well out of his weight and size class, just remember even Croad would get 5 or even 8 goals kicked against him at times and he is 20 kg's heavier than Murph. He has made a few mistakes but seeing he hasn't played that many games, and also plenty of others make big mistakes, Hodge made plenty last week, even Sewel and Mitch made a few last night as well.

Murph will be a good long term prospect for our defence, especially for the S Johnson, Brad Johnson type player not the Tredrea, Barry Hall, Sandilands, Fevola type that he has had to play against.

Fair to say he just isn't upto it at the moment, I hope he turns it round, but for me I don't think he is going to get there. Tries his guts out, but just probably doesn't have the talent to make it at the top level. He is not in our best 22 and he is barely cutting it as a back up defender.

I feel a little sorry for him sometimes though, as he is being hung out to dry with cronic miss-matches.

Thought Murphy got caught out tonight, seemed to lose sight of his man. I believe that Murphy is one of our best defenders, for his role on medium-small fowards. Tonight, however, was not one of his best nights. Seemed to be out of position a few times. Nevertheless, I'm sure he will bounce back, and you certainly can't fault his endeavour. Watch him hold Robbo goaless next week!

Why is it that as soon as anyone is critical of a player who either had serious preseason surgery or missed some preseason one of us jumps up and down and defends them.

Tom had a shoulder reconstruction and had no preseason competitive work. He did not get a preseason game(mmm... except possibly the last but certainly wasnt in competitive training at the time we played Adelaide in the bush). He did not get the preparation required to go from 3rd/4th tall to our NUMBER ONE defender on some of the competitions biggest blokes.

I think some of you are being terribly unfair on him. I really think that he is copping way too much childish and unwarranted jibes. I really do implore you guys to understand that the kids mates and family read this shit.... and while he is giving 100% for OUR club and bleeding brown and gold while we are severely undermanned..... all some of us on here are doing is laying the boots in. Sure make specific comments... but boy some of the crap that goes on here is just cruel.
