lol. thread recursion.
To be fair Viney is a level above Sheridan as you would expect from a kid that would have gone pick 1 or close if he was in the draft not father son.Shero missed out on the Rising star nod this week to Jack Viney. Because if it's one thing they need it's more false confidence in their kids.

Well gee, maybe because Sheridan has been developed the way a young player should, playing at a lower level for a year and a half, learning the game style, coming on as a sub, not being tagged.
As opposed to thrown in the deep end from game one as a skinny 18 year old and being monstered by the best stopper the oppo has from about game 10.
Not disputing his talent, but if he was in the mix for the 1st few picks then Melbourne would've been forced to use their first pick (3 or 4) to draft him and not their bullshit pick in the 20's or whatever it was.
Yep, and they both had the opportunity to offer their picks to take him which would've made Melbourne use pick 3 to take him. Instead they didn't and Melbourne took Jimmy Toumpas...The only picks above Melbourne last year were GWS and GC and GWS got Melbournes first pick anyway.

So I forgot GC traded their pick for Martin, and that Melb had pick 4 as compo, from memory did FS bidding happen before or after they traded for Hogan? It was all so messy. All I remember is GWS could've bidded pick 1 for Viney.errr...
I don't think you get it. GC traded their first for a mini-draft pick and so did Melbourne. If GWS forced them to use their first pick for Viney then GWS wouldn't have been able to get pick 3.
They were able to use their 2nd round pick because the other pick they had was a compensation pick for Scully leaving and doesn't come into father son concessions.

I think you guys are better off in the drafting and trading forum. Check this link out http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/forums/drafts-and-trading.61/![]()
Yeah, but the point is that if GWS did bid pick 1 for Viney, they would have missed out on pick 3. It was basically draft tampering, call it a gentleman's agreement where GWS said, "Hey bro, if we don't bid for Vinedog at 1, you promise us you'll trade pick 3 to us? Kool. you arright dawg."
I doubt they are hip hop 'gangstas' chillin out while concocting draft deals.
