Hopefully Markov gets a decent run to see if he can tidy up his kicking. The rest of his game was good.Injuries are fair from ideal, but I’m glad we’re giving blokes (Wilson, Markov) on the edge of 23 a run early in the year. Not only does it give them a chance it also tests our depth & if they can play a role in McRae’s system.
That we’ve doing so and with the exception of Brisbane still netting 4 points is even better.
I think Markov went at 76% DE against St.Kilda and his average is 66.7%, that's not too shabby.Hopefully Markov gets a decent run to see if he can tidy up his kicking. The rest of his game was good.
I also think Tom Wilson will struggle to make it as an AFL player, but since we were allowed to keep him on as a Cat. B Rookie for another year it would have been pointless getting rid of him at the end of 2022. With no-one else pushing hard for Cat. B spots it made sense to keep him on as an "extra" player. Come the end of this season we will have to make a move with him, so he'll need to do a lot right to be retained.
I think from next year we can potentially put Alex Condon on the Cat B list officially? Are there no other young “potential“ Cat B players out there to try? I’m sure there are plenty of young athletes from other sports that could be given a chance.
Reef didn't do much in the VFL. Maybe conditions didn't suit him, but I expected more from him in a weak side. He needs more time.

I'm a bit of a Reef skeptic. He's got all the tools, but I don't think he knows what he's doing out there. I'd move him to defence for a more straight forward less instictive role than forward or midfield.
Didn't do well in a full AFL game nor in the VFL this week. He definitely got some time in the centre. I thought maybe the wet conditions didn't suit his game.He was recruited originally as a big Bodied mid but they have been developing him as a forward likely due to his tank not being afl ready.
As a forward you are very dependent on up field ball movement.
Id like to see them give him time through the guts at VFL level especially when cold up forward, rotate him through.
he was excellent as the sub in afl year start, imo prob needs belief and confidence in him, if you watch a replay of when he was subbed vs Brisbane he looked quite upset.

I wouldn't play any of our senior forwards in defence (although Bobby would have the potential to be a sensational rebounder if he had a tank).Reef needs a run at it. Was good forward in limited time played as a sub.
Went cold vs Brisbane but the team in general did, he should of been backed in and just let to find his feet.
ps you’d play everyone in defence if allowed your like RossLyon of BF.
No - he needs to have three years of not playing afl before he can be picked up. Believe the earliest he could be listed is for the 2026 seasonYeah if he chooses to come back from us college bball.
I'm not sure. He does hack his kicks a bit and doesn't take any intercept marks. Fly must have his reasons but he did a good job on HillWhat was his kicking efficiency because my eyes tell me that stat is bs, he burns that ball badly many times even when he is free and open. Plays a bit like early years Noble (before his physical attack on mana and ball lifted to what it is) without his skill.

Agree, his game was rated on here based on preconceptions of his disposal. There were a couple of painful turnovers, but less than Moore, who was just about BOG despite a few shit kicksI think Markov went at 76% DE against St.Kilda and his average is 66.7%, that's not too shabby.
Rightio - however I don't think he can be listed whilst he is still at college - or at least, he could be if he agreed to it but I am pretty sure that would finish his college eligibility. So realistically, he won't be doing anything until his college career is over. The three years are up as of mid-2024, because he hasn’t played footy since mid-2021 as a 17yo. So we can Cat B him as of mid-next year, and then it’s up to him how long he pursues his NBA dream (and I suppose, up to the club to decide whether listing him is something they want to do, based upon his plans by that time).

Mate, I was just guessing - would be pretty surprised if they were allowed to be paid as a professional sportsman. More importantly, I would be even more surprised if we listed a Cat B rookie whilst he wasn't a full time footy player at the club?I’ll take your word for it, but NCAA rules have changed fairly recently so that collegiate athletes can be paid, so they don’t have to maintain strict amateur status anymore to the extent that students were losing their scholarships if they accepted money for a signed jersey or trading card etc.

To me Reef is like a cleaner Goldsack. Great athlete. Good in a contest, but doesn't know where to run to get an uncontested possession. I'm sure he'll get better in that regard, but you're not making it as a mid or forward on contest alone. You've got to be able to get involved in some uncontested chains and he just doesn't yet. Easier to do so from defence.
Not sure. Maybe for someone of Condon’s reputation/rating the club would make an exception, rather than risk another club swooping in?Mate, I was just guessing - would be pretty surprised if they were allowed to be paid as a professional sportsman. Yes, but you're assuming that it's just tank and Reef reads it well enough and has the instincts to position for receives. I haven't seen it yet, so not convinced. The instinctual guys still get on the end of it, and chain up when they're in the area, even without the tank to get to the area a lot.You need the tank to be able to run to contest to contest and in space to be able to get “easy ball”. Reef is a burst player they tend to expend 100% energy in bursts and often drain the tank. Swan had to be used in rotations to allow him to recover and continuously burst.
Players like Pendles and Steele go at it around 75% mostly allowing for better energy use in distance running at pace.
