We're top of the ladder and you want a new coach when the current one has taken us to more finals campaigns in 4 years than every other coach we've ever had put together?

Guess it's true some people don't appreciate what they've got until it's gone.
He is seen as a coach for a mature team, which is exactly what we have now.

...and I do appreciate what he has done, but that doesn't mean I want him as our coach forever.

ross has to win the premiership this year or he loses his job
I actually ran into danstar before the qualifying final - managed to take a snap on my nokia 3210.

I'm guessing a Saints supporter... or maybe ex-player? Possibly a current umpire? Just Fishering for answers here.

The hatred directed at Ross from the Saints fans really gets me. He got them so close to the premiership on 2 occasions with what was a fairly limited list (outside the top 4-5 who were stars). The criticisms from the Saints fans that I know are more or less the same as he gets from some on this board...dull game plan and didn't blood enough young players etc.

Don't know about anyone else but I see the coach's main job as getting us as close as possible to a premiership. The fact that we are in a home preliminary final shows that he has got a fair bit right this year. Fair enough to say perhaps we could have improved the side by introducing 1 or maybe 2 younger players earlier in the year at the expense of a Suban or C Pearce, but let's not get into sweeping statements that Ross he should be sacked and that it's time to tear it all down and start from scratch.

Just to add to that Ross has never had to rebuild a side. Why don't we give him the opportunity to do so rather than write him off before he's had a chance. He's managed to develop Neale, Sheridan, Sutcliffe and A.Pearce well when he's been here. He just makes them earn it which can work for some but not for others. Arguably the saints best two players Steven and Armitage were made to work for it by Ross and were just starting to get regular games as he left.

I would love to see Ross develop a list and come out with a new gameplan tailor made for that list.

Tommy takes my personal award for proving me the most wrong this year. I thought he was going to be a total flop. Ive noticed he offers a particular play style that I dont think we have. Hes a back that is willing to go over half way and carry. No one else really does that. He has that like reverse? step where he gets inside the guy that is trying to tackle him to get space, its sort of unique.

Its silly to think that All of the responsibility rests on Lyons shoulders, the players have to put their
hand up to, and make it happen.
Ross can get enough wins to make finals, whatever the cattle, but sometimes having a mature list
is a double edged sword, but if we do fall short this year, I would back him in next year.
We are a good hardworking team, with several stars, but lack the quality overall on all lines to
create a dynasty, sure we can pinch a premiership this year.
Start fresh next year with a mini rebuild, and we could start to really dominate teams, rather than
winning ugly.

It's more their board, the same one that recruited Scotty Watters and still they continued to **** up and nobody was like, well, maybe it wasn't all Ross after all.

Add to that list the namesake of the title in Sheridan, lets not forget the work with Walters to straighten him up. Ross can develop a list people are naive to think otherwise - Fyfe also on his watch has taken the biggest leap. We're forgetting 2011 was a lame year for Freo, to get them to a GF 2 seasons from there requires a great coach.

What I liked about Sheridan in the last few games is his dash. Not quite the elusivness of Mundy but he showed a willingness to run a quick 15-20m before kicking rather than what a few others are inclined to do, which is amble slowly while trying to find a target.

Really solid year for Sherro, established himself in the 22 and grew with confidence as the season progressed.

His willingness to back himself and run with the ball is something we sorely need and hopefully he continues to get better. He isn't a defender and IMO would be an instant upgrade on D Pearce. Then we could play Brady Grey as a lock down small defender.

He ****ed up last night with the missed mark, really disappointed no one got around him. It killed our momentum but we win and lose together as a team. Hopefully this drives him to greater heights next season.

He is definitely part of our future.

We win together and we lose together. Mistakes happen, just let the feeling he'd still be feeling now drive you forward, come back to pre season in good shape and have a great pre season, let that memory motivate you to succeed.

Sherro's really stood up and put in a solid season. He's one of the main reasons why I have so much faith in the future of the club, even with the impending retirements over this year and the next couple. He should be proud of how well he's done this year and not dwell on what could've been. There were plenty of reasons why yesterday ended with that result. It was good to see all the other backs rally around him, and give him a pat on the back after the dropped mark. Hopefully told him to keep his chin up. He was having such a good game before it too.
<3 these boys for sticking by him rather than playing the blame game. (I even had to rewatch it to get this picture  )
