I know it is excellent seeing the pies getting flogged but do you think it is good or bad for us that they have been smashed? Will it leave them low on confidence and set up for another flogging next week or will they fight back against the old enemy?

Collingwood teams under Malthouse tend to bounce back very well after bad losses so thats probably not a good thing for us. That and the fact that every team that's lost to St Kilda in 09 has won the following week.

Having said that, I'm as confident of a Carlton win this week as I probably have been all season.

Just goes to show that Collingwood aren't as good as everyone makes them out to be, no matter the players they have out of tonights team. Feeling reasonably confident that we will bounce back against them next week - particularly given that we have an extra 2 days recovery over them.

I would normally say its bad, you never want to play a proud club after a flogging and Collingwood is one of them, however;

- We put in a bad performance, although its not a flogging the team need to redeem themselves and this is no better time than against Collignwood

- Collingwood are overrated this year

- Their best player in 2009 Leon Davis was a withdrawal tonight which puts him in doubt for next week, Cloke ahs left the field injured not to return, Dane Swan has hurt his knee and may have injured his medial, so they will have a some key player missing, possibly which forces them to play young kids, i think Fraser also go injured at some point but maybe came back on

- We have longer recovery time

- Fev normally plays a blinder against Collingwood and needs to redeem himself after last week, Judd and Murph are on fire

So in reality we are a better side on paper, and will go in favourites, however we know how we have performed this year in games we should have won, but good teams need to rise when they should win and its time for Carlton to realise that and not live in the hype around the team.

Tonight's result is irrelevant. Saturday night's result should ensure we come out firing. Our worst performance of the season so far will hopefully have ensured a major reality check at Visy Park. I'm expecting to see us go back to the basics that saw us win in Round 1 & 2. Lots of tackling, second & third efforts, one per-centers & better use of the ball.

Other than the Bulldogs game, the last month has seen us go back into our shell & become hesitant in our decision making. A step back to 2007, almost. Ratts needs to inspire the players this week. Show them the video of our Round 1 effort & remind them of what they are capable of when they take the game on, hunt in packs & support each other.

We are much better than what we displayed on Saturday night & given the injury question marks over a number of key Collingwood players, nothing short of a comfortable victory will be good enough.

They arent that bad.. A lot of players out tonight including Leon Davis, Medhurst, Jack Anthony, Didak, Johnson etc... Thats a lot of goals and pressure there.. Now they will come out firing.. I say BAD...

I doubt that those players out for Collingwood would have made much difference tonight. St.Kilda are a class or two above the magpies, and with them suffering more injuries tonight, we'd want to come out next Sunday and really show what we are made of.

We just cannot drop the game next week.

If anything is to go by the fixture, its a bad result.

Round 1- Saints beat Swans, swans got up the next week.
Round 2- Saints beat Crows, crows got up the next week.
Round 3- Saints beat Eagles, eagles got up the next week.
Round 4- Saints beat Dockers, dockers got up the next week.
Round 5- Saints beat Port, port for up the next week.
Round 6- Saints beat Bulldogs, bulldogs got up the next week.

Sounds like Collingwood have injury concerns with Medhurst, Didak, Davis, Fraser, Swan and Cloke. Not so sure about Didak, Medhurst and Davis but Fraser, Swan and Cloke sound like they are near certainties to miss next week. Anybody know any more?

Seriously...if we dont win this game..then I am going to question if we can make the 8 this year(I already am). Our boys are a good bunch, and on paper, SHOULD beat every team we face bar the Cats and The Saints...but we havn't so far and the reason why is because we dont chase and tackle hard like we did in Round 1+2.

Its like we just think we can show up and win, which WE CAN'T!. We are not Geelong....Geelong are a great team, and I can tell you now, there are 18 players in our line up that wouldn't get a game at Geelong right now. Every week, our boys need to work hard, and win the in and unders, get the clearences, and get it to our forwards (or lack thereof....) and get it through the big sticks!

Apparently leon was out with a virus so he will be back and considering medhurst was close to playing i'd say he will be back. Collingwood supporters think Didak will be back but the media say otherwise and expect him to miss one more. Cloke should miss with a hammy even if it is just a strain they shouldnt risk it. Not sure bout fraser and Swan
