In 25 years time, people my age will have Neitz probably at no.1 you know.

In 25 years I hope and pray that people in the age bracket controlling the world are smart enough to work out that a bloke who has achieved nothing is not better than champion players from a team that won 5 premierships in 6 years.

Hotpie,

Can't agree with:

Carlton: Bradley being on the list. I'd put Williams ahead of him. There are many great Carlton players who'd be ahead of Bradley.

I think :D:D:D:D Reynolds would have made Essendon's list.

Fitzroy : Bunton missing
Geelong: What about Polly Farmer... Brownless and Ling - no way
North Melb: Don't know if I'd put Archer ahead of Schimmelbusch, Greig or Dench... still not a bad list - Carey and Blight were freaks

Richmond: Jack Dyer?

Carey and Blight are locked in no question. Third spot is a raffle between Les Foote, Noel Teasdale, Keith Greig, David Dench, Schimma, Ross Glendinning and Corey McKernan. All going well, Daniel Wells or David Hale or Hamish McIntosh or Jesse Smith will blow them all away to become the third or even second greatest.

You've got to be on drugs that give a false sense of optimism if you really think Wells, Hale, McIntosh or Smith are even going to be mentioned in the same sentence as Schimma or Greig. I'd be rapt if they could match McKernan's level - 200 games, AFLPA MVP, equal Brownlow highest tally, would have won Norwich Rising Star if not suspended, B&F at a club... yet still maligned

You've got to be a glass completely empty sort of supporter if you are so bereft of hope. I rate Greig and Schimma as I am old enough to do so but I want one of the current crop to do better.

So do I, but I've seem Carey, Greig, and Schimma and those guys were so good that I know how rare they are to find. I honestly don't think we'll ever have anyone as good as Carey. And if we have another dual Brownlow Medallist or 300+ game club record holder I'll be one of the first to be up there celebrating.

South Melbourne/Sydney Swans.

1. Skilton
2. Nash
3. Pratt

Have steered clear of Lockett as he made his original name in footy at St. Kilda. On ability, I can only judge by what I have seen and been told, Lockett would probably push Nash down to 3rd with Pratt 4th.[/I]

Agree with you about Lockett, but where would you have Kelly?

From the team that used to be really good.
1. Nicholls.
2. Jesaulenko (saw him play, no doubt in top 10 of all time,
can't believe no one picked him)
3. Can't split Kernahan, Bradley and Doull.
Agree with your Nicholls and Jesaulenko with Kernahan definitely third, followed by the Flying Doormat. Those that have forgotten about Jezza were probably not old enough to remember the 70s.

You really are a tool, seriously mate. Why would one argue so much over a player that will be remembered as one of the greats to wear a Melbourne guernsey. Don't they say, in modern footy it is much harder, and I obviously can't comment, but of all expert opinions, it is, and Neitz is a class act IMO. Why the hell you made calls like a 'dill' is just beyond me.

Neitz's Player Honours
best and fairest 2002
2nd best and fairest 1995,2001
3rd best and fairest 2003
All-Australian 1995, 2002
International Rules Series 1998,2002
AFL Rising Star nominee 1993
Coleman Medal 2002
Leading Goalkicker 1996,1997,1999,2002,2003,2004
Captain 2000-2006

Soon to be:
Club's Games Record Holder
Club's Goals Record Holder

Fair Honour Roll...not the best, but he will be remembered as one of the greats at the Dees, and there should be no arguments if one shall put him in a top 3 at the club.

I'm arguing because I saw both at their best and an ill informed kid with an ego and a couple of favourite stats web sites is making a poor judgement re the club I support.

Neitz is a great of the MFC whilst Flower is a great of the game. Neitz might scrape top 10 with the likes of Flower, Barassi, Warne-Smith, Spencer, Smith, Mueller, Lyon, Stynes, Cordner, ...

And any Dees supporter knows he's not top 3, and shall "argue" such.

Dill.

Actually for an all time great, that's not very impressive. 1 B&F, and 2 all australian guernsey's? I think you're insulting Melbourne quite a lot to say he is going to be one of their best ever.

I'm not even sure he was a better player than Schwartz (injury not withstanding), let alone lyon, stynes, flower et al.

Dill.

I got no info off stats websites mate. I have a library of footy books and they are my source, and in my opinion I had Neitz at no.3

Who cares...aparantly I am a dill and know nothing about football, so I will shut up.

Come on mate you can't seriously ignore every one of our premiership players, Barassi was a reasonable player.

Kelly probably after those 3. You hear names like Clegg and Herb Matthews, so its very hard to judge. Barry Round was an inspiration, and even Barry Hall is quickly moving up the list.
