Trac wants out

They can’t force him to play. He can also play at a lower intensity. This lowers his trade cost without impacting his contract.

In the end, he will get the money till 2029. It can end up in a Treloar like situation.

Exactly. The reports are he has been unhappy with others professionalism. How professional was it to sign for 5 years? Glass houses Christian
Seven in fact, he's two years into the deal already. Usually long term deals are a risk for the club (what if the player has a bad injury and is never the same afterwards?), but this shows it can be a risk for the player too.

Straight swap for Houston? Mind you, Houston is probably rethinking his position to join Melbourne next year if their 2 main midfielders want out.
Petracca is disappointed in the direction of the club- it is clear we have underachieved and have players who engage in a little bit too much recreational drugs.

So why would he want to go to a club that has sucked or 20 years, embarrassed themselves time after time, KOTCHIE running the place and the most unsuccessful coach in AFL history?

Because we have Ken!!!

Which clubs do you think could become a serious contender next year if they get him?
Assuming disillusionment (if it exists at all and isn't just rumour for rumour's sake as seems most likely) it would need to be someone either on the up, or already near the top with a few years window remaining. And they would need to offer up something huge for Melbourne to consider an offer, this year and next's first round picks from a lower half side probably would not be enough.

Hawthorn might have the space, and are showing a big improve to the point they could contend soon. But what could they offer?
Every club would chase him. Carlton, Essendon, Gold Coast perhaps more than most; but would any fit his wants and who of them would have the bargaining power?

In short, he isn't moving until far closer to end of contract.

Goodwin under no circumstances should coach to 2026. We will be absolutely ruined. This is ****ed and requires immediate action. Hurry and get this done. You don't have much time to appoint a new coach. I am sick of my club being run into the ground.
Our game plan is a mess too and is boring to watch and hasn't evolved since 2021 and has been comprehensively worked out since the premiership. It's also dated and the sport has moved past emphasis on "defence" and "contest" no wonder supporters aren't showing. It's boring to watch!

Because their club has better prospects for the next 5 years than Melbourne.

At Port, Petracca could play the Martin 2019-2020 role and help give their forward line more fire power. Admittedly a bunch of other sides would get even more use out of him as a pure midfielder.

If it comes down to an ultimatum, Trac or Goodwin, I know who I’d choose.

Does Tom Morris actually have any decent Intel coming out of the Dees? I'm fairly sure he's a Dees supporter, I just can't recall him breaking anything other than that story which made Bevo mad.
Started his career at Melbourne but wasn't that well liked from what I understand.

Jesse Hogan tweeted about him a few years back:
Honest leech. Had a job at Melbourne football club that was private and used it to get a leg up.

You’re thinking of the Petracca pre spleen/ lung injuries, and that he’ll come back the same player and play at that same level. I don’t have a crystal ball but getting back to that elite level remains to be seen.
